Nice list... however I think it has few flaws... Brilliant games like KOTOR2 and Arcanum are not there...

Also the oldies and goldies.... Sam&Max is in the list but Day of the Tentacle is not there??

Talking about oldies, how come Simon the Sorcerer is not in the list?

Also Half Lives are waaaaaaaay overrated.

Shame on me, I never played Deus Ex so I can say nothing on that

It is very difficult to say which is the best game ever that I played, but it is probably be one of: KOTOR, KOTOR2, Arcanum and Oblivion.

Would be lying if I said Id played alot of the games on the list - probably only around 15 of them.
But the top two would probably be exactly the same if I was to write it (maybe switched around order-wise).
But I'll be honest - I nearly stopped reading when the first game I saw was Need for Speed.

Not a bad list I thinK i have all but 5 of them ..mainly the online ones Ultima and everquest.
But having AVP2 there and not AVP1 is just silly . AVP2 was woeful by comparrison to the first one.

Surprised Max Payne 2 is on there but not the original.

Bought them both again a couple of weeks ago, most of the way through the second now, but although the graphics are way better on it, I prefeered the first one.
The storyline in the first one was better. It had a couple of neat little puzzles to progress, didn't hold you up too long but involved a bit of thought. Quite a few popular culture references, which haven't really dated that much. And it introduced 'bullet time' and variable difficulty. Only downside was there were a couple of places where the gameplay got a bit repetitive, but the same can be said for the second one.

KOTOR2 was pants. developers were rushed to release it, half the stories amounted to nothing and there was so many bugs! there was forums taken down it got so much bad press!

Glad to see Fallout there at 21, fallout1&2 were best rpgs ever! Better than ff7!

Can't believe Half-Life 2 is ranked higher than 1. There is no way in hell that that is right. The first one revolutionised how FPS's were designed and played. HL2 had fancy physics. Not fair at all

There is only 1 cnc game and thats at no 42.
There is no KOTOR

What the hell is soldier of fortune 2 even doing on that list. Awful stuff altogether. Mechwarrior 2 should be in it and Starcraft should be far higher. Half-life was a far better game than 2. GTA doesn't deserve to be sharing the list with a lot of games let alone being no. 11. Both Max Payne games are samey repetitive gash with a dreadful storyline.

Other than that not a bad old list and nice to see the underrated Descent, Blood and Undying on it.

The best - going by number of hours played - is Championship Manager 03/04 followed by Civilisation II.

Tie Fighter is in there...no. 58. At least i'm assuming its Tie Fighter, as any game called 'The Fighter' cant be good. And ya, Freespace 2 should be there too.

FF7 and Black & White need to be further up the list. Baldurs Gate 2 needs to be put on the list. Half Life needs to be moved down the list(don't see the big deal). Lemmings and Day of the Tentacle need to be put on the list.

I just don't agree with this at all...

If your going to to different versions of games why not make it CS 1.3?
or even before 1.3 maybe one of the beta's like when the siege had that vehicle.

And again i have to mention it no star trek games? no botf or Armada 1

I just bought it Saturday - 7 or 8 quid in Xtravision.

Thought Far Cry should be a bit higher.

And Stalker?! I really wanted to like that game, and forgave it a lot initially, but the bugs ruined it in the end.

Sid Meiers Pirates - did anyone actually buy that game? Half life 2 better than 1 thats like saying Water is better than alchohol.

grim fandango is more like top 10 material, one of the all time great adventures games like that now are not made no more which is a shame

also the original commandos was brilliant. alot of games now are totally rubbish!

Shambles of a list to be honest. I know it is nigh on impossible to do a good list like this but this has to be one of the poorest efforts I have ever come across.

Overall i gotta agree that the list is majorly flawed.
Wing Commander 4? Wing commander 1/2 and privateer were far superior.
WoW, a game that has over six million online players currently (far more than that have played it) comes only 15th?
UT2K4 but not the original?
Doom but no wolf3d?

Only time i really kinda "respect" these lists are when they clearly state how they judge games.

For the record i have played 44 of the games in the list

TBH I think these lists should be taken as the top 101 games in no particular order as the more popular games always end up at the top even if some of the excellent niche games would be considered better.

well i just said 1.6 as it's the latest version of counter-strike. source is no way near as popular or addictive - and probably won't be in my opinion - as counter strike on the hl1 engine.
