Cant knock the guy for amazing service.

My new 5D & toys arrived today and took two days to get here - EXCELLENT!!!!!

If only the local companies offered service anywhere near as good as this they would be doing a bomb!!

Now this is an interesting comment to make, would you be so kind as to explain this further either here or via PM.

this is the first 'not good' report I've heard about Kea photo. How come he still has 100% feedback? Do you know if he was faked by someone else or he was faking you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭FreeAnd..

i had to bring mine to canon after it stopped working, they checked it out and found it was a sophosticated fake made from the internals of a 350D in a 5D body...got to charge all that extra for it...sickening..

Would you just e-mail him with a product request and buy via paypal or is it best to click "Buy It Now" from his eBay listings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

If it's in stock, Buy it Now,

If not, email him, he'll get at least 1 in, and then click Buy it Now, afaik.

One of the people running KeaPhoto on eBay - A good few of us buy stock from him, he's really efficient, and can get stock easy.

Oh, and he has 100% positive feedback

Thanks for that. I must go have a look. Mind you, not really in need of buying anything right now.

I just need to learn how to use what I already have.

the above quote will render the following quote completely irrelevant..

And next you'll tell me that you've never bought something that you didn't need. :D

If I do see something that is a good price, that alone might tempt me to spend. Maybe a new 100mm lens?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭FreeAnd..

thats the spirit that you need when dealing with Albert..that and a nice big credit card..have an open mind and he will make all your dreams come through..

Great wind up Freeand.. ... you had me going for a minute too ...

I just (also in 2 days) received the 16-35 F2.8L MkII and 70-200 F2.8L IS from him ... my heart was sinking reading the thread until the bit about finding the 350d inside ...

Mind you those two new lenses do feel a bit like they may be made from an old tupperware disk and some bottle tops ... I'd better get Canon to check them out ... :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,547 ✭✭✭City-Exile

I'll be throwing about €4,000 at him, this weekend, so he'd better come through. Should I tell him that Boards.ie approve of him? ;)

They're actually toilet roll inserts. The 70-200 is a bounty kitchen roll one. I read it on Wikipedia so it must be true.

I'll be popping my Kea cherry next week hopefully :D

I already did this ... and tried to negotiate a boards rate for us ... but he wasn't budging ... he knows his prices and service are what makes us go to him so why would he ? ... to be fair .... though he will negotiate a discount if you contact him directly ...rather than via ebay ...

Well, the prices are competitive enough, so it's hard to complain.
Buying a few little things, so maybe he'll pack them all together, or something.

He'll pack them together alright, but you won't get a discount on the shipping.

The 50mm 1.8 for definite. Maybe an IR filter. Also thinking about the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro but can't figure out why its so cheap (€120 or so...). Seems a little too good to be true that one..

I had one of those before and don't think I paid too much more for it.
Perhaps mine wasn't APO though, can't actually remember.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭FreeAnd..

nothing is too good to be true with Kea - i reckon half the people here would still be on the kit gear if you were forced to pay conns prices all the time..

very nice indeed. You deffo won't be sorry with the 50mm. I have no experience with the sigma you mentioned so can't say ya or nay on it but at 120E it sounds like it's a bargain alright.

True on the Urgalaxy vote, you only know what someone is like when thing go wrong, and the grip for my 5D did not arrive with the rest of the kit. He shipped it out via express airpost when he was satisfied that the problem was at his end. It took a bit longer but got there in the end.
I'll stick with them because of they way they handled this problem.

Off to check out URgalaxy and Digital Rev now...

I just placed an order for over €4,000 with them.
Was just easier to deal with the same people again.
It's a lot of money, so I went with what I knew.
    Fingers crossed now.
I'm hoping this investment will change my photography in a dramatic way.
