PL 7 Card Stud/ PLO/ NLH rounds of each game in SE - any interest?

Myself, Mickste, jbravado, baker1 were discussing the possibilty of a multi discipline rounds of each game to be held in the SE. Obviously this would be subject to a number of constraints.

    - sufficient number of players
    - agreement from the SE to provide a dealer (Laurent or Jack being the only capable ones for the games in question)
    - agreement on a day/time.

    1/2 pl or nlhe
    1/2 plo
    1 7card stud pl

anybody with interest in this? More likely to be a once off rather than a regular event but would be a bit of craic for an evening if there was sufficient interest.

    expressions of interest?

excellent idea, I'd definitely play any weeknight, I haven't got much of a bog about playing stud but my natural card sense and unerring ability to fold basically everything (including the winning hand) will see me right.....

    :p

As discussed i am certainly up for playing this. As you mention dealers and players are the issues involved. I also think that the game should be Holdem, 7stud and omaha only as the other games can get crazy quickly [Like on saturday in the Jackpot playing 10 card omaha hi/lo]

I was talking to IanMac last night about this and he will play i think as well. Thursday, Friday or Saturday are good for me.

I am potentially interested, depending on the night of course.

Surely multi-discipline should mean HORSE, now that's a poker player's game - 5 limit technical games, your list you could throw in dice rolling and it wouldn't much increase the gambooooling quotient :)

I think we have the making of a game here - we can probably include HectorJelly on the list also as he expressed interest in this type of game a few weeks back. Im sure others will join in the fun.

I will speak to John later and report back.

Lol. I was gonna put a similar thread up on boards today. I think it should be a dealers choice game with the following variants: 7 card stud (high ad high low), Omaha (4-6 cards), O8 or better (4-6 cards), Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple, Holdem. I wont be around the casinos again for a while now, but I would come out to play this game once a week if there was suitable interest. I'd rather 2/5 but 1/2 is fine. The SE should get one of those dealies with all the names of the games on it so that the dealer can display it each round of the table.

    Good work BCB!

Ian I think this seems like a great idea if you can play all of the above games but realistically i think there would be 3 people sitting around a table if we were to have all those variants. Obviously the number of players will likely rule out some of the 5/6 card variants.

My own personal preference would be taking the 3 above as a starting point and then try to build on it from there. Im only one likely player here so if there is preference for the above named crazy games it will obviously dictate the choice of game.

Sam - im easy on the day of the week really, Thursday sounds fine to me as I never play the 50 donkament in the SE (I would probably play the 100 once monthly one tho)

anyway, il speak with John or Alex first and take it from there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭Glowingmind

just did a google on it and have found two different explanations.
one is CP and CP 8/b
The other is Pineapple is discard preflop, crazy, discard after the flop.
    All variants should be played

With such sick value how could I refuse!:D Stick my name in the pot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Crazy pineapple is Irish holdem Noel so everyone should know that one! O8 is a must for a mixed game. I can live without Stud 8/b (not a huge fan anyways) and 2-7 triple draw.

    So how's about Holdem/Omaha/O8/7 Card Stud/Crazy Pineapple (3/4 Card)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 474 ✭✭delanec8

I wouldnt have minded having this last week when trying to grind out the hours for the cash league. If im in whatever night this goes ahead, ill play.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 568 ✭✭✭58o

I'm too lazy to go looking up rules on the interweb, but from memory are crazy pinapple and pineapple not just absolute gamblor luckfests not far removed from wildcard omaha. i'd prefer to keep the lineup pared down to games that involve some semblance of skill,at least until the last half hour when we could introduce these games as a lifebuoy to those who are beyond stuck for the night. (and btw I've only played 7 card stud once EVER before, so i'm not being a nit here). Thursday sounds like a good night for this. And Triple draw would be a sweet addition.:D

lol at Ian, Peter and Tony pushing for games where they know that they have a huge edge and are best rolled for the sick variance. I am out.

Last time we played, we tried some double flop omaha deauces wild..i lost my nuts lol

    Hi,

This all sounds good Alex and I have been training the dealers in 7 card stud in the past few weeks so I don’t see any problems.

Alex off tonight will drop him an e-mail and let him know.

Good man John. Remember that €100 HORSE tournie i was talking about aswel. We might be able to shuffle the letters around and get a tournament going some night

Lol. I'd have small edge in O8. Thats about it. Peter has little to no experience in any of the games above, so he's the sick value which he'll admit. He could barely tell you the nut low in O8, so i wouldnt think either of us (especially him though) have any noticeable edge in any games tbh.

To the earlier question, crazy pineapple isnt a gamble fest. Its holdem with 3 cards where one is discarded postflop. There's lots of skill involved.

Ian I used to organise a mixed game in the fitz on a Saturday but players who promised they would show never did. Any reason you couldn't have it from 8pm on a Saturday? Any other day other than Sunday is no good for me.
Also any particular reason you want the SE and not the Fitz? Its just that Luke has a lower tolerance level for drunks and cheats.

I'm happy to play in the Jackpot or the SE but if three players barred from the Fitz were allowed to join the table I would have to sit out. I know its difficult for small card clubs to ban offensive players but they have no idea just how damaging to their very existence it is to leave these rotten apples lying around.

u still winning? dirty little monkey!

    Doc

I think most people can't commit to the Sat nights, pesky women etc

would the fitz provide us with a dealer who can deal the various games and a table ? I didn't think Luke would have had the capacity with it being pretty busy in there most nights (in comparision to the SE)

I'm happy to play the game anywhere really. Fitz is fine for me if thats where u want to have it.

As of tonight I shall be taking a hiatus from live poker. Tilt monster reared its head after getting out of it for the night. Then somehow shipped in a big tank against a mate blatantly advertising his monster to me drawing to one out.

My much changed live game has gotten back into too many old bad habits so
gonna take a break again from live poker, with one or 2 exceptions (mainly this game and the GJP festival...)

Winning? Trying anyways... My live graph looks like an inverted V. My online graph is a little better!

i need to get in some hours online so i can't commit to turning up to anything for the next few weeks, but in general if there was a mixed game going i would be on for playing in it,i don't really know how to play anything other than holdem and would like to learn.

although i love six card two flop omaha i think if there is a mixed game it would be better to play "standard" games (stud,o8,razz,triple draw, etc) rather than "crazy" games (southern cross, pinapple, etc),so basically i would be more interested in learning how to play games you can win a bracelet in than regional variations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

Lads I was on my way in and stopped in the FITZ at 8 to get some food, there was a seat in the 50holdem so i jumped in. After some sick outdraws I was in the hole and I couldnt actually bring myself to leave such a fish bowl.. I finally left around 12ish once I could literally rest my chin on my stack. I sat card dead for 2 hours waiting for my luck to turn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭Doc Farrell

I'd be up for giving the HORSE game another run around the racetrack, that is to say, another go.

We could keep it cheap, blinds of one, one. We can play it half pot limit too, which we will need for 7 card variations believe me!

We can play it as deep stacked as anyone likes with a minimum buyin of 50 bucks.

Nic proved himself a great dealer the last time but Paul, my fav dealer, would be great at controlling the egos too.

The only thing is I work 70 hours a week and really only can play from 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. I can organise it if a half dozen here commit for the first two games.

If memory serves me correct I was a consistently losing player the last few times I played and would like to think that my game is still as sharp.

If it has to be another night or venue then I'll try to make it but can promise NOTHING! excuse me, i mean not very much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,328 ✭✭✭hotspur

I will almost certainly play HORSE Doc. I would recommend playing it properly as all limit games though, although I'm not sure how that would work if it were a small game with antes / bring in being under 1 Euro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

TBH i'd prefer if the game was dealers choice. I find stud and stud 8/b painful to sit through at times and would hate to have to play a round of each.

Ian the game has zero chance of getting off the ground as dealers choice. If it is restricted to 3 variants at least it has a chance of drawing a crowd upon which a dealers choice game can be built.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

and dealers choice means that positon is everything if your the button on player As choice and he chooses a game you hate, youd never be on the button in your game of choice. Although obv some games position doesnt matter, surely it will be relevant in others omaha/PLHE etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

would the button not choose the game in dealers choice?
