Wifi Speed Vs LAN Speed?

    I have a laptop and always use a wireless signal from my modem.

    The Modem syncs @ 20,540kbps (24MB ADSL+2), When I do speed tests Its always around 10MB and I can D/L @ 1.2mbps, but I just connected my laptop via the LAN connection and I can download @ 2.2mbps and speed test are 19MB?

    Should there be such a big difference between LAN and WIfi?

    Yep, a wired connection is faster than a wireless. A 11Mbps wireless prob maxs out at about 5Mbps and a 54Mbps at 20 Mbps. And that's in the ideal scenario. If your signal is weak, then the max speed drops off.

    Having encryption on also adds a performance hit.

    If you don't want to run network cables around your house homeplugs are always a good alternative.

    The 85Mb/s once should handle your DSL speed (jammy git :D ) and you can simply plug one in beside the router and put the other one wherever you are sitting with the laptop at the time.
