Anybody listening to the legendary Udo Erasmus being interview on RTE one radio yesterday between 12 and 12.30??

It was an excellent interview where he pretty much destroyed all the fat=bad arguments out there.

Had some interesting comments on the value of oily fish too...

Do you know if there is a link?
How do you mean fat is not bad? Lipid biomolecules are a very good source of energy, yes, but I presume he did not mean being overweight, or suffering from obesity?

Is he chinese? They say their 2nd names 1st. So he could call himself Udo Erasmus, but we'd call him Erasmus Udo.

That's what I thought first too, but he's Polish.

Sorry the article I read said he was born in Poland to latvian and estonian parents, so I thought that covered where his name comes from. They moved to Canada when he was a child and he has citizenship there.

If you follow the "listen to latest show" link you can hear the interview in the second half of the show. Its well worth a listen. It seems to be available in RA format only at the moment It wasn't available on podcast yesterday when I checked.

My wife and I have been taking the Udo's oil for over a year and find it great. I take fish oils also but I'm a bit dubious about the quality of some of the products out there, espiceally the seven seas cod liver oil you get in supermarkets and even some of the shop own branded ones you get from heath food shops. I reckon they are processed in the same way as mentioned by Udo in the radio interview.

Can anyone recommend a good fish oil supplement that is not over processed, is low in contaminates and reasonably priced?

Like this one for example: http://shop.genuinehealth.com/ProductSelection.aspx?ProductID=2080&CategoryID=66&afid=8

Any good health food shop and 6-10g fish oils per day at a mimimum would be what i recommend

Gosh its great to have a few guinne pigs for 'research' !!!

Just started in last two weeks but finding it difficult to get them to take more than 10g per day as its alot of capsules to take and very expensive for best quality fish oils.

Overall, yes its making a big difference - improved sleep, concentration, less cracking in joints, better skin and of course more fat loss (when combined with optimal diet and training with weighs and cardio)

So can anybody explain to me the difference (apart from the obvious) between Udo's oil and Fish Oil?

As in when Transform says above about 6-10g minimum, would taking 6-10g of Udo's oil suffice or does this have to come from fish oils.

for omega 3 you could try Omacor I get it on on perscription, not sure if you can get it with out a perscription. If you get it on perscription you can claim tax back on it.

    From the website -
OMACOR®(omega-3-acid ethyl esters) is the first and only FDA-approved prescription omega-3 fatty acid product. OMACOR is the only omega-3 that, along with diet, has been proven and approved to dramatically reduce very high triglycerides (TGs) (≥500 mg/dL) in adult patients.

There are various omega-3 products available at drugstores and through Internet sites, but only OMACOR

    is FDA-approved
    is a prescription medicine
is proven to reduce very high triglycerides
    has prescription potency and purity
By prescribing OMACOR, your doctor is giving you a concentrated and reliable omega-3. Each OMACOR capsule contains 90% omega-3 acids (84% EPA/DHA*). OMACOR is naturally derived and manufactured through a unique, patented process that creates a highly concentrated, highly purified prescription medicine. The unique manufacturing process for OMACOR helps to eliminate worries about mercury and other pollution from the environment.

I am right old crack monster -my shoulders, lower back, knees, ankles - everywhere.
Im very limber and have no motion or flexilbility issues and all doctors physios have diagnosed as no problem.

You say however that fish oil supplement is showing a real and defiinte decrease in cracking in your Guninea Pigs? In 2 weeks Only?

On the show he said 1 tablespoon per 50lb of bodyweight, which is roughly what I take.

What do you guys eat it with? I tried taking the recommended dose (4 table spoons) on its own but I nearly puked. Anyone got any serving recommedations?

Take a slug straight from the bottle. It's actually easier than using a tablespoon as you can swallow it quicker.

It can be tricky enough. But at least you can put it into smothies and on salads without completely taking over all the other flavours (unlike fish oils).

I put it in a smoothie in the morning with berries, whey, oats, yougart etc. I also use it on salads I even made up my own home made salad dressing with it. 1 part Udos, 1 part olive oil, 1/2 part balsmatic vinegar, one or two garlic cloves and a few teashoops wholegrain mustard.

BTW Daveirl from other post, you can get Udo's oil in any decent (one with a fridge) health food shop, I got a bottle recently in the new (well it was new 10 years ago) shopping centre in Douglas.

Anyone any ideas for taking fish oils raw?
