Is lifting and holding weights considered any good?

    Hello,

I like to lift weights above my head and hold them there as long as possible.

Is this considered any good? Or is it a waste of time?

    I'm trying to build muscle.

    Thanks.

If your just holding them up over your head the tension is going to be more on your skeleton than on your muscles, do the same thing but do it for reps without the pause at the top of the movement, make sure you balance out your training also-chest, back shoulders and legs and arms also..

    is that all your doing?

I would have to say, if your trying to build muscle, lifting and holding weights above your head isn't really going to help you.

What kind of weights are you using, and do you have a gym available to you?

You should check out Isometrics. Slightly different that what you're talking about. Just follow up with some of Borus posts or look at his site.

As Cousin Borat said, Isometric Training is similar but also different to what you are currently doing. Its worth checking out Boru's Website: www.isometric-training.com
