    What way does this work?

Part of the racecourse area is reserved for those with "Reserved Enclosure" tickets. They cost extra

Generally there's only a reserved enclosure for big meetings like punchestown this week and Derby day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,494 ✭✭✭finbarrk

Yeah but the reserved enclosure tickets that you got will admit you to the racecourse also so you wont have to pay anything at the gate.

Not really, Harchibald is a dog.

in fairness harchibald has shown nothing this yr whereas iktitaf might well have been placed in the champion.

i think washington lad is worth a small ew at the forecast 16s in the racingpost. well handicapped on his hurdles form but its a trappy enough race.

Has anyone noticed that Silent Oscar (giving 10lbs) beat Macs Joy on the flat a few weeks ago over 2 miles and ran Brave Inca to a few lengths third (beating recent Aintree winner Al Eile by 4 lengths in the process) at Leopardstown at Xmas. He also seems to run better on good or better ground. Macs Joy was beaten out the gate by Newmill on his last hurdle run.

Macs Joy is 6/4 and Silent Oscar is 66/1

I'm not saying he's going to win but how in the name of jaysus does that make sense in an 8 runner race that pays first three?

You can rule out Callow Lake, Harchibald, Strangely Brown and Sweet Wake so that only leaves 4 others that can win, or so I think!

He has to be worth an each way punt surely or am I gone off my head?

    Please help!!

I've got word of Myfirstanonlylove in the 5.50 Bumper. Local horse again (same trainer as Gonebeyondrecall in the bumper on Wednesday - who was backed in from 20s to 3s).

Myfirstanonlylove is forecast on ATR at 8s.

Probably be my only bet of the day after my dismal performance on Thursday.

Moscow Flyer in the Sweepstakes anyone??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 678 ✭✭✭iloveireland

Iktitaf will win the champion hurdle.

Im am very confident that Iktitaf will win. He was running so well at cheltenham until falling. He loves puchestown (2111). I am very confident he will win.

5/2 is the Bet of the festival as long as the f ucker doesnt fall.

Ah Jesus, has to be backed. Don't care if it comes nowhere, will be nice to be able to write out that name on a docket again.

I'm in agreement with you, although I wouldn't be brave enough to say he will win. But he does love Punchestown and will be well suited by the going. I'll probably be shot down for saying this but I've always thought Macs Joy has a knack of finding one too good.

Sorry, 33/1 but my point still stands, 7/4 against 33/1 doesn't make sense to me.

Ditto. Can't have Macs Joy at 13/8. Not saying Iktitaf would have won Champion Hurdle but he would have been placed. Won here last year, similar ground at 8/1.

bit of cash for washington lad in the 3.30, 20s into 16s and shorter with a number of firms, alas i didn't get any of it. Deliberately left work after nine this morning in the assumption that bookmakers would have their prices up but nobody did.

Must say its been a decent festival this year but punting opportunities are few and far between. Plenty of trappy enough contests, the champion hurdle and the champion novice today being 2 more!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,937 ✭✭✭fade2black

Hardy Eustace is still the one they all have to beat.

    Harchibald for me today

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 678 ✭✭✭iloveireland

laying MACS JOY seams to be the banker.

or dutching which i think is a better option considering it will be one of the top 4.

    £100 on iktitaf = 350 return
    £10 on harchibold = 100 return
    £10 on hardy eustace = 60 return

None of these horses can be depended on so the best bet is to sit back and just watch. (And hope that Hardy shows them how it's done)

    could you answer this question?

i just layed a horse and it finished in a dead heat but it took it off me at full price. Should i have only paid half and why if not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

I ahd a horse yesterday that came in a dead heat. €50 @ 5/4 and i got back €57. I would assume the rules for laying should be the same, but I'm no expert...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭BangBeater

yeah, horses for courses & all that... I'll go with Iktitaf (that how ya spell it?!):D

An each way on Silent Oscar is defo on the cards too.... again horses for courses... his record in Punchestown is good.

They should of only taken half the bet at the price and returned the other half to you as profit. e.g. if you layed Pensanze at 5.0 for €10 you should get €5(-.25 commission) as profit but loss €20 giving a net loss of €15.25.

It may just take them some time to settle the 2nd half of the bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,430 ✭✭✭Sizzler

I have to go for Hardy Eustace I have to say, don't think it needs an explanation!

A note about the race, WTF ever happened to Sweet Wake, probably one of the most hyped hurdlers going to Chelt last year and has done fook all of note since.

In the 5:15 Eagles Pass swaps codes and should be nice and fit after a recent trot at 12f. At 28/1 has to be worth a few quid for a place.

Any one got anything for the 2.15? I was going to back Bravery but he seems to be on the drift on betfair, 5.2 out to 7.4. Its my last bet of the week so its a "must win" to setup my weekend.;)

Question marks over Macs Joy, and Iftikat has ran v badly the last 2 times before he fell. Why do ppl think hes back to his best? Tho' He was regarded as a talent.

Also leaving aside the Carbery factor, He was also tipped by the Boylesports columnist in the Herald (<can u see the obvious mistake kids?)
    Which just seals this.

    C'mon HE!

very speculative bet on Anshire Tower in the next, slippers on board, has been in the money in 4 out of 5 last races ... can run on good, and shure why not?

Ponmeouth and Anothercoppercoast - 2 against the field.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 678 ✭✭✭iloveireland

PONMEOTH in the next at 3:30 has a great chance. He beat beautiful vision confortably who ran very well yesterday.

I have him backed at 12s alright, though, my mate was on the phone to Derek O' Connor today, said this horse hasn't got a chance, and that his ride in that race should win it comfortably. (Cloth Fair currently at 4s).
