He is correct to an extent. The world is full of pain and misery as well as happiness, beauty and good people.

OP, lighten up a little, I agree with a lot of what your saying but if you spend to much time thinking about the bad c rap you will miss out on the good stuff.

Roll up a nice big Joint and head out to the woods/lake/ go fishing where you are away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, sit down, chill out and take in your surroundings. The bad stuff will overtake the good stuff if you allow it too, so don’t allow it to, it simple as that.
