Your favourite shot?

Just chatting to Fenster about this, randomly decided to ask him what his favourite shot (of his own) was. Funny how sometimes what you think is your best shot goes unnoticed, and ones that you think are just ok end up very popular. Well here is a fresh thread where you get to say/show/link to your favourite shot.

[Fun optional extra: remember that great thread Julie started a while back where we got to explore the flickr/dA/personal website of the previous poster and pick out a shot of theirs we liked... that was great fun, and I wanted to revive it but couldnt find it on search, so maybe you could do that too. Post your own fav, and then a photo of the previous poster, but you can leave that bit out if you like!!]

It's hard to choose just one.

I'd be leaning towards this one - deviantart.com/deviation/31970888/
    A_Boston_Bathroom_by_RichyX83.jpg
The thing putting me off though is that shot was more down to luck than any skill on my part.

    Overall I'll say this shot - deviantart.com/deviation/47962473
    Rising_Above_the_Kingdom_by_RichyX83.jpg
It's simple but it does it for me.

I've been looking at so much great photography these last few weeks that my stuff looks hugely dull in comparison :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

You really should have included one yourself, you know.

    416800613_0e53d98ddc.jpg

I'm most proud of this. There are a few photographs which I think are better technically and some landscape stuff and I know there are one or two technical glitches with this.

However, it's the biggest stop action I've done, it took ages to put together and I'm seriously considering a panoramic print of it.

Since then I haven't been able to reproduce anything like it. Oh I've tried, believe me I've tried.

What an awesome shot Calina, just brilliant.

I would however, get rid of that pole/sign on LHS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

Ah that pole is highly important. It allowed me to line up the last six shots. I love that pole. I've never danced around it but it is highly useful all the same.

It's hard to go back and pick just one as I've so many photos up and out there that I love, at this point, so I normally just pick something recent. Eh, this'll do:

My first try at detail work in a while, taken last night.

Im pretty sick of this one at this stage but I say it would be one of my better ones, I do have another which I cant show just yet because of a show coming up I want to keep it as a surprise

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,966 ✭✭✭elven

Not necessarily my favourite shot - but I thought the point here was to post a picture that hasn't elicited much of a response, even when you liked it. I'm starting to wonder if I have too much of a connection to the memory rather than just judging the picture on its own merit - or even that it's different from my usual style so people don't know what to make of it...

If you're talking favourite recent shots though, it has to be this guy ;)

My favourite one is usually the last one I uploaded which is :

I'm taking Julie's route. This photo has had no comments and very few views on Flickr but I'm kind of fond of it.

like others my favorite constantly changes , but as my cover to my ever changing favorites set, this classic from Thailand, of a transvestite giving a recovering addict a shave in a Thai drug treatment centre , is hard to beat for surrealness anyway !

This is one of my favourites. It's not a shot I was expecting to take when I headed to the Botanic Garden.

Has to be this one, I like it beacuse I set out to take this shot after capturing something similar on a P&S. I only had the 350D about a week and didnt know anything about it so I swotted up a bit on ISO and shutterspeed and got a 50mm f1.8 and ended up with this. The expression on his face is so much better when you meet him, he has so many faces. I must organise a Boards.ie horse picture session up in the yard where I keep him. Some great pictures selected so far :D

Taken the first day I used my DSLR for the first time :)

My current fave non action one is this ...

That car one is brilliant - I think the horse one is very good too though I would have liked it a fraction sharper. Still great shots.

I like this one, partly because he's one of my kids and partly because of the serendipity that makes a good shot, and partly because of luck:

I haven't been out in ages but should have a chance this weekend and the weather is spot on right now. Anyway, one from last year. I'm still in point and shoot land. Good idea for a thread, the work here is absolutely stunning. Well done everyone.

    Mele who was the band?

Gotta say I love this one, just something about the light (even the fact that its slightly out of focus). My first real go at capturing something, and in natural light and untouched by PS

Oh and Calina - that shot is bloody brilliant :)

One from last year, taken on a weekend trip to visit my daughter who was studying in the Conemara gaeltacht.
I don't know if my fondness for the photo has anything to do with its quality or if it just reminds me of a great time had by all.

Hope this works, no idea how to attach pictures on boards! How do I get it to appear as part of my post? I've only started in the last couple of weeks, it's mediocre by the standards I'm seeing here. I also have no idea of how to operate Photoshop!

I'm a bit like Al in this respect as my favs change but i do have a few that remain close to my heart.Nothing to do with technical merit or anything, just like them.
