Pain in forearm from lifting - how to cure?

    Hey,
Been a long time since I posted, moved jobs in January and haven't been on boards much at all! When I do get a chance to look around I'm always impressed by the feeling of motivation I get from reading just a few posts - keep up the good work everyone!

Along with the job move, I moved gym and started into a new routine. This week I'm getting a pain in my left forearm, about 1/3 the way down from my wrist, on the bony part of the outside of the arm. The pain comes (obviously) when I try to lift anything heavy, but it's also sore if I press the spot, almost actually on the bone. I have a feeling this is from bicep curls, I remember getting it a few years ago, and from talking to my brother he gets it as well.

My new routine contains an Arms day, which consists of supersets of:
Preacher curls with an EZ bar + tricep dips
Sitting down dumbbell curls + close grip bench
Standing EZ bar curl + skullcrushers

I've been finishing off by just grabbing one of the fixed weight straight bars for some bicep curls, I think this has been my downfall - would the straight bar bicep burl have caused this pain? And anyone who's ever experienced the same thing - how did you go about getting rid of it?

I usually get forearm DOMS after back day, with deads/rows/chins etc... dunno if the pain you're having is DOMS though.

Sometimes I get that pain when using a straight bar for curls...I generally do hammer curls or dumbell preacher curls if I'm doing any though and don't get the same pain from that.

I used to get alot of pain in my wrists and forearms when lifting. During the lift and as soon as i let go of the bar i would get shooting pains. Not sure how similar it is to yours but changing from a straight bar to ez bar for curls helped and changin from ez to d/bells for curls helped even more. I eased off doing curls for a while with anythign bar d/bells and it seemed to help alot. My best advice would be rest for a while then stick with d/bells.

I get a really deep pain in my forearms when curling with a straight bar from time to time.

It's like a really deep bone pain. Is that what you have?

Get it massaged as it sounds like its just some muscle damage - get a good physical therapist to break it down for you and do no curls for next 6 weeks. Change to hammer curls for all arm work you must do as its the turning of the hands into a pronated grip that will worsen the problem.

You could have 'Tennis Elbow' which usually shows as pain near the elbow joint, but also knotted muscle along the belly of the forearm.

What Transform says is correct - get some massage from a physio to diagnose it and break up the knot before it gets worse and affects the tendon badly
