How to get definition in legs

    Hi all,

I'd like to get some exercise / diet advice
I currently have quite large leg muscles (or combination of muscle and fat, not sure!). I’m quite short (5’3”) so I’d like to reduce the muscle size but stay toned.
I cycle 4/5 times a week for an hour+ so this could be the cause.

Is there anything I can do to slim them down?

    Thanks

Your basically saying you don't know if your legs are muscle or fat......you want definition but you also say you want to "stay toned".....your post is really just confusing.

Pinch the flesh of your legs....is there any give? If so you have fat legs. If not then exactly how big are they?

Also, are you male or female?

the "toned" look is from having muscle.

cycling will have a tendency to work your legs pretty hard, but I sincerely doubt that 4-5 hours of cycling a week will be causing a quadzilla look.

Chances are it's fat that's making your legs look big (although big is relative, lots of girls tend to think their legs are bigger than they actually are). If you clean up your diet to help you lose fat the underlying muscle will give you that 'toned' look you want.

    Sorry if it’s confusing
If I flex my leg there is nothing to pinch if it’s not flexed there still isn't much to pinch except on the inner thigh perhaps.
The rest of my body is very slim and small so perhaps in proportion to me they just look big.

So I didn't really think it was fat I needed to loose but muscle

    and yes I am female

I used to cycle 350km a week up until 2 years ago. That gave me pretty lean and stringy legs but not massive like the type you see on the time trialists in the velodrome's i.e. the cycling champs that were in Palma recently on tv.

edit - then again the fuel in my tank was alcohol, not protein... so I suppose it depends what you are eating.
