Trying to scam an ebay scammer- RIGHT NOW

I noticed that there were quite a few similar items from different sellers with the exact same extremely basic ad layout, all advertising to email them for a buy it now price with stupid made up names like johnny.derek@hotmail.com. All the ads were one day listings, but for champions league final tickets you'd put them up for at least 5 days to generate the maximum interest. Scam alert!

So I pm'd him via ebay just to make sure it wasn't a scam, and I got this response a short time later

I emailed the address on the ebay ad ionutlord13@gmail.com and got a response from a guy with terrible english, called Dobrin Laurentiu-lonut

the price is for both of them and i can shipp them in Ireland,the shipping will be probably 15GBP,but i think that i will not put them at a by it now price because is not for the first time when a buyer told me that and after that he told me that is not interested anymore,you can buy them from me righht now and the transaction will be made trough ebay for our protection

I was talking to my donkey and he said the tickets are worth no more than £470 for the pair, would you be willing to accept £470 instead of £600? I know you asked for £600 so I would be willing to use western union or do a bank transfer to your bank account, so you don't have to pay paypal fees, or I am happy enough to use paypal so we can be sure everything goes smoothly

Are you sure, because my donkey is adamant that we should pay no more than £470. So I think I'll have to draw the line here and decline your tickets unless you reduce your price. I'm sure you'll sell the tickets without much hassle anyway.

Btw I dislike paypal due to the excessive fees they charged me when I sold some of my aul lads dirty knickers to a guy from Vietnam. I have used bank transfers with people on Ebay Germany in the past without any problems

Oprah had one of the head honchos from eBay on the other day and they were discussing something very similar to this. The suggestion was to never pay for anything on eBay without going through paypal.

I think my friend Rupert said its pretty safe for transferring money, I hope it is as I'd hate to miss out on these Champions League final tickets. Come to think of it, you'd probably want to be careful enough. Don't play with him too much. If he can hack into someone else's account, theres good chance he can attack yours, if sufficently motivated.... have you registered your address to receive any goods before?

no, he got the account from phishing. someone went to a fake ebay site after recieving an email asking to confirm their details and signed in. this is how they rob accounts.

I remember reading a similar thread on 419 eater, I think thats the tactic nowadays, but they made sure it was a hefty package & had declared its as being rather valuable so the scammer had to pay the customs charges to get it out.

I dont know, davey. Anyone could get a picture like that by searching google images, and pretend they have the letter. If you take a picture of you holding the letter I will believe you have the tickets and I will definitely buy the tickets off you, as it is the only way I can tell if you a trustworthy man of trust speaking words.
