This may go against the charter and if so delete as appropriate but wondering where are the best places to sell secondhand PS3(except ebay), just not gettin value out of it and would there be any demand for one?the price will be right of course

Apologies to any dedicated PS3 fans!

what price have you tried to sell it at? most people will want to buy from store where they have knowledge they can bring it back if somit goes wrong, granted yours may stil have warranty and that but its just peoples mindset.

also the fact its second hand people will be looking to get 150-200 off original cost.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,838 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

you aren't going to shift it at €750, regardless of the HDMI cable, the two games and blackhawk down - I could buy the console new for that price. As dodgey69 says, you'll have to take a hit on it - the demand for the console just isn't there to be selling it at cost price second hand. If you'd tried the same thing with the Wii a couple of weeks after release you'd have made a profit - cause you simply couldn't find the things instore - but PS3s are in good stock most place, they aren't ahrd to buy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 385 ✭✭hollywoodhoppy

awh thats no probs, was just puttin 750 out there as a negotiable price, could go 675 or so, no interest in really havin it TBH, have the 360 and get loads of free games for that but i never get a chance to even play that. if i was selling it for 750, i'd be tempted to throw in psp and a few games accessories etc.

damn, just read back over that, i think i'm gettin old, i've no time for gaming :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,912 ✭✭✭SeantheMan

Yeh but m8, ppl arent buyin it for the PSP.
Theyd want the PS3  ...and at 750..well..thats a lot
Cosidering it sells for 630 standard(no game and joypad i know)...but tell me something...do you still have the warranty and guarantee ? ..cause if it were to break ye know

I bought my Wii and then sold it 4 days later..this at the stage where it was in demand and ye couldnt get it anywhere...and STILL took a hit of 60:rolleyes: euro

Was better having the money in my pocket though than a console that wasnt getting used tbh

Oh ye, i'm takin that on board, thanks for your advice, as i said, the price is negotiable and i would go well below 750, that was just a benchmark really, it still has warranty, receipts etc, all above board. was really excited about getting it and all but with so many games on the 360 its not at the races at the moment

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,838 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

if you need the money, sell it. But, if you don't actually need the money i'd keep it - there are going to be some fantastic games on it, and PES7 will be much better on it then on the 360 i reckon, though that may not be as important to you as it is to me!

Question : what are you selling with it ? :p

I cant see what games or things your selling with it in your first post.

And i cant acess boards.ie adverts section ;) from work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,838 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

F1, Resistence:Fall of Man, 2 controllers, BlyRay remote, Black Hawk Down and a HDMI cable.

GT HD is also on it, but that is free, so not really a selling point.

The 360 is allready behind it in every way bar the games and in 6 months the PS3 will have that sorted .

Loose the xbox i have both and if one was to go it would be the xbox it was more expensive isnt as good and will break down any day now .

    Xbox cheaper my arse

That's only if you want them, and you can get the wireless kit, play & charge kit, live sub and HD-DVD drive for far cheaper.

By looking at them with my eyes :D

PS faster and the graphics are better I have both i have the godfather on both so as a test we put them up on split screen the PS wins .

PS can play back video Xbox cant
PS can play back mp3 xbox cant
PS can play pro evo xbox cant
    PS is wireless xbox isnt
PS plays HD disks ( blue ray ) xbox cant
PS you can browse the internet xbox cant
PS games are released at 60 euro xbox 70 - 75 euro

Now im not slamming the xbox i love mine i think ghost recon 2 is one of the best games ive ever seen , but if it came down to it i had both and one had to go then it would be the xbox . Mainly because i know the xbox is going to break down any day now where as the playstation hasnt had any such problems .

you have to compare like for like or else it doesnt make sence .

PS can play back video Xbox cant - Yes it can, with even more formats supported in the coming update
PS can play back mp3 xbox cant - yes it can and has always been able to, even during games. Try that on a ps3 ;)
PS can play pro evo xbox cant - Yes it can http://www.game.co.uk/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=11325&mid=329386
PS is wireless xbox isnt - Depends if you buy the add on
PS plays HD disks ( blue ray ) xbox cant - Depends if you buy the add on
PS you can browse the internet xbox cant - You got me, such a system seller of a feature
PS games are released at 60 euro xbox 70 - 75 euro - I've never had to buy a game at €70-75. Most I've ever paid for a 360 game is €60.

And using Godfather to compare graphics. LOL try using a game that actually uses the power of each console or at the very least one that hasn't had a year of extra development time.

I was comparing like for like, I just wasn't talking about rip off high street prices.

Yes if you buy the add on thus making it more expensive RE: my first point .

Have you played pro evo its **** only pro evo i ever traded in in was that bad .

I used the godfather because its the only game i have on both but ive seen ghost recon 2 playing and its better aswell .

So you can now play video so basically they saw the PS3 realised it was better and are now trying to catch up , Why didnt they do this last year .

    Same for the mp3 's

Basically they are playing catch up now even though they had a year and a half head start

Why are you talking crap - the 360 could always play video (they will be adding MORE formats soon, not adding the functionality as new!) and it could always play mp3.

Can you read? They always had MP3 support and they can be played in game, unlike the PS3. They've had video support since launch, added the ability to stream your own videos to the console well before PS3 launch and they are expanding on it further in the next update.

Ok here we go, I have 3 xbox 360's and a PS3, I've compared games like VT3, NHL 2K7. MLB 2K7 graphically. Surprisingly the 360s graphics are a hell of a lot better which I even said to one of the lads in work and he was surprised. Where did you see GRAW2 playing on the PS3 considering it's not even out yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

I have had both the 360 and the PS3 since launch and at the moment
if I had to get rid of one it'd be the PS3.

The ability to listen to your own MP3s whilst playing any game on the 360
is a joy. The ability to stream video (in any format) from my laptop to the
360 via wifi using TVersity is great. The fact I can get 90% of new 360
releases from Asia region free for on average €30-40 means the games
are much cheaper.(Sony make sure they intimidate the Asian stores into not
shipping games to EMEA, Lik-sang anyone!?!?!?)

Graphics wise there's no big difference between the two
machines but I'd give the 360 the edge... and before I hear the PS3 is just
out, someone remind me how long it's been out in US and APAC. If you look at
the graphics that the 360 had within 3-4 months of launch (this time last
year, GRAW/Oblivion) I think developers were able to get better results
    from the 360 earlier.

If both my machines broke in the morn I'd replace the 360 first. There just
aren't any games on the Ps3 that I don't already own on the 360. I'm still
waiting for a Ps3 game scheduled for release in the coming months that I
want...... there's only so much playability in the current Ps3 catalogue and
apart from Motorstorm and Resistance Fall of Man there's nothing out there.

And don't get me started on the poxy loading times on the Ps3!

Yea but look to the future do you really think the xbox will be better than the PS3 in 2 years ? For me i i had to get rid of one id loose the xbox purely on i think its hit its limit allready , i dont believe its as functional as the PS3 . ( streaming video requires a laptop or similar desk top so thats yet another cost to incur )

Quiet alot, but anyone with an ounce of sense will shop online where you won't get PS3 for much under retail but you will get great deals on a 360 bundle and other accessories.

Site for what, GRAW2? I seen the images and can't spot any difference, although there has been barely an ingame media released. Most of it is the dodgy CGI Ubisoft is famous for.

You never said any of that, you said it couldn't play MP3's/videos.

You can't copy media from a PC to the 360, you have to play it from DVD/CD/usb hdd/memstick/stream from PC.

What makes you think its hit its limits? All console's games always improve the whole way through their lifetime, look at any of the past generations. The 360 will not be any different.

Let me clarify that it does NOT require a laptop/pc to watch video.
I can transfer WMV files (including HD WMV) to a USB key, USB drive or
CD/DVD and play them directly from the 360. By streaming I can watch Divx
and most formats. How many people that own a PS3 or 360 do not have a
PC? How many people that have a PS3 or 360 and do not have a PC have
a vast collection of media (divx/wmv/mp3,etc) that they could watch on
their console? The upcoming update for the 360 will allow me to dump
most media formats onto an USB key and play them directly.

I've also set-up Orb (www.orb.com) to stream media from my laptop to the
PS3 and it's pants compared to the quality of what I can achieve with
    TVersity and a 360.

    I don't think it's a dodgy 360 but rather a blinkered view:
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130160
    http://tversity.com/home
There were several discussions on the Xbox forum on boards.ie too.

As I said before I have both machines and have no preference as to whether
Sony or Microsoft make more cash from their respective offerings but what
annoys me is when people attempt to promote one format over another
based on incomplete information and brand loyalty. Hell I'll play whatever
game is best on whatever machine as I've done with all consoles since the
80s. And at the moment the 360 is winning both on the games front and
on it's multimedia capability, all I can give the current PS3 offering in it's
favour is the fact that bluray is winning over HD DVD.

Ps3 is a lovely machine and im quite happy with mine but im also not that much of a mong that i can admit that it ISNT worth the price just now due to lack of games and that the 360 completely trumps it for online service and games library. And it also looks alot better in multiplatorm games, take a look at FEAR on ps3 and try telling me it looks better.

So im right ??? you spent the last page argueing with me then admit im right , it cant play back video .

To watch an episode of south park id have to turn on my pc burn it to a disk/mem stick etc then take the disk upto my xbox then watch it on the xbox against turning on my PS3 and watching it

No you are wrong. You can play back video, you can't store it on the HDD.

Why not put them on a memstick/disc when download them, like you have to do with the PS3.

Im the same i have both i have said i love both , its just if some one said i had to loose one id choose the xbox i gave my reasons i didnt think id get a load of abuse for it . Not from you the above is a decent answer , but i thought the reasons i listed where resonable reasons for choosing ( ps i was asked for reasons i didnt come on here spouting on about how great the PS3 is and how crap the xbox is ) .

Did you even bother reading any of the last few replies?

    My thoughts so far:
    Blinkered views
    Blatant fanboyism
    Misplaced brand loyalty

I'm off to watch a HD episode of Southpark directly on my 360 that
I downloaded off the (superior) 360 marketplace (without a PC). :D

I (and I assume most people here) don't mind which console you like or prefer, but don't start putting down the other over completely untrue reasons.

which is what im talking about , ok i spell it out for you the PS3 can play back video stored on its hard drive the xbox cant i presumed everyone knew it can play disks ....happy now

because then you would have a load of disks laying about the place getting scratched

More misinformation, lies and mistruths: I have 6GB of videos on my 360 Hard drive that I play directly from the console.

I also have 100gb+ on my laptop that I stream directly to my 360.
Now I can understand why you're not happy with your 360 - you clearly
either do not know how you should use it or are afraid to discover it's true
potential in case you find some feature the PS3 lacks.

It's the multimedia capabilities that poor Anto is struggling with and we are
doing our best to help him understand.

With regards to the games there is much of a muchness, I'd give the 360 the
edge at the moment. Plus one must admit that for an owner of both consoles,
they'll have the games 'coming soon' on the PS3 already on the 360.

The link you provided summarises my thoughts:
"In short, Call of Duty 3 is a solid enough game on PlayStation 3, but it's obvious that the Xbox 360 version was (and is) the lead platform for development and the Sony console is getting sloppy seconds. In this respect, it's simply not good enough"
