    Interesting title, eh!

Anyway lads. I come to you in need of advice. Basically I have fallen in love with Dita Von Tesse and her style of modelling. (Fetish/Burlesque). And I've gotten fed up with being 'too big' to model similar style pics as her.

Now I'm not saying 'Oh woe betide me, I'm fat' or whatever. I'm also not saying I want a 22inch waist (Cos that's just not gonna happen!).

Basically. I wanna trim my waist line, and keep the boobs and hips. So I'm just wondering are there any types of exercises I should focus on?

Now this is coming from a girl who doesn't exercise regularly (Apart from skating! :) ). I'm not unfit, but I couldn't run a mile and not be out of breath either. Well. maybe I AM unfit. :|

Basically my waist is currently 34 inches. And I would like to get down to about 28/30.

And nutrition wise, what should I focus on?
Your advice is muchly appreciated, boys and girls.
    Thanks.

Dita von Tesse has strained her waist through years of corset wearing from what I've read. I'm not sure that it is healthy for a woman to compress her waist like that but I'm open to correction. I do love the hourglass look though. At any size I just go up and down.

Heh heh, I thought this was going to be a thread along the lines of "22inch waist, that's horribly unhealthy... quick, to the fitness mobile... Fitness forum Hooooooo". Heh heh, I'm so out of touch with waist sizes these days. Damn 22... that must be, that must be "Oh look I can fit my hands completely around you" small.

I apologize for being totally useless... I just come here for the pancake recipies.

Hahaha! Yeah. I just measured 22 inches. And my god. Tiny. :(

Is that whole look not originaly based on the more buxom woman in a corset any way?

DVT is a bit of an exception with her shape and Its probably a shape you have or dont....

You lose the weight in one place its likley to also reduce the twins;) and butt.

Yeah. I'm aware. But I'm at a loss as to what exercises will really help. It's not so much as I wanna be her.

I just want to achieve that hourglass shape.
I have naturally big hips anyway. And my waist is 4 inches smaller than my hips anyway. I just want to decrrease that a little bit more.

    I'm currently from the top:

    36
    34
    38

And I wanna get that down a little.

Generally speaking any excercise and dietary change for the better will see you shed some weight.

I suggest you post your current daily diet, any excercise you get, time you can commit to working on this and also if you have access to a gym, park, running track, equipment at home etc.

Truthfully if you are looking for a specific hourglass figure truthfully going the corset route is probably your best bet, and I'm not just saying this because corset are the sexiest item of clothing women can ware*.

With weightloss there is generally no such things as spot reduction. i.e. you can not target one area of your body to loss all the weight. So you aren't going to be able to just loss weight around your wasit

*this statement may not be fully acurate ;)

Hahaha! Yeah. I just measured 22 inches. And my god. Tiny. :(

How big is DVT in the bust/hips area? She might just be tiny in general and you could go for a more natural yet effective version. Now... I've just realised I can't really remember what DVT looks like exactly, but I know she's filed under "hottie" in the lil name cabinet in my mind, so eh, must y'know, eh... research her now. For science sake of course

    Is that photo real?
Am I the only one who thinks her waist is freakishly small?
Reminds me of those women with the elongated necks.

If you look at normal photo's of Dita out of a corset her waist is fine. She is naturally quite small in the waist, larger in the hips and augmented in the bust, so this all help her look. Also, she has the Monroe facial structure and clever use of makeup accentuates the "old time" look.

Like anything else, corsetry needs to be developed slowly, you can't just crush you inards like that. But anyway, here is Dita under normal circumstances, now can we maybe swing this thread back to helping the OP? ;)

Nope, you're not alone Cheese Princess. Now don't get me wrong, I'm totally with jsb on the corset thing but Dita Von Teese's waistline is a step too far for my tastes...

OP - you can't spot reduce your waist so anything you lose will come off your entire body. It's a pity there's no way of doing it (aside from lipo afaik *shudder*) but most of us can do with losing a few pounds of adipose and strengthening our muscles (Dragan aside, he's too bloody strong as it is :P).

Have a read of the stickies regarding nutrition for the best way to sort out your diet and post your current/intended exercise regime in here and we'll advise you to the best of our abilities (mine's quite limited but there are some pretty smart people here!)

Dita is teeny teeny tiny. She was on a recent episode of America's Next Top Model and she looked around 5 foot or so!

They should market her as "Dita Von Teese in my pocket". Might take away from her current style though. Hmmm...
Pity she's augmented in the chest area, she could breed a race of super humans that only have to wear size 22 trousers and so can use the money they save on material to conquer Belgium!
    The Horror!

Haha. Yeah. Dita is tiny naturally.
    Thanks for the advice.
My life is a tad hectic at the moment with a new job etc etc. As soon as a new routine is establiahed, I'm sure I could get something going.

    As for a diet?
Um. Hows about: Anything I feel like...
    Dodgy, I know!

And as with the corset wearing thingy Anyone got any advice as to wearing them? Or where to go about getting one?

I'll post this in fashion too.

    Thanks, lads.

One of my thighs on it's own is bigger than that womans waist. That's scary. And it's not like I'm overweight... my waist is 32 inches!

But seriously, OP, I would personally avoid the corset route and go on the general fat loss route. It's far healthier and generally image improving in the long run.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,365 ✭✭✭hunnymonster

vollers are prehaps the best known corset makers. I think you can buy them directly from the company (uk based) or figleaves.ie carry a limited selection.

Expect to pay over 150 euro for a quality corset by which i mean steel boning, reinforced eyeholes, a strong stainless steel front fastening busk and quality fabric. The finishing on the corset will determine how comfy it is to wear.

If you've never worn a corset, or like me just think they're pretty enough for a night out but dont wear them regularly then choose a waist 2-4 inches smaller than your measured value.

Actually looking at the original DVT picture again, it kinda makes me sick in a "I'm looking at a fun house mirror that keeps moving" kind of way.

OP - looking at the measurements you posted I'd hazard a guess that you're a pear shape, because if you were a natural hourglass your waist would naturally be a lot smaller. I'm an hourglasss and even though I'm not particularly slender my measurements are 36-28-37.

So as a pear, weight loss would probably make you lose a lot of weight off your chest - I'd recommend the corset route and some Pilates classes. It wouldn't burn fat off your stomach, but it works your 'inner corset' of muscles, and a friend of mine was a size 14 but still dropped a couple of inches off her waist through a lot of Pilates work :)

no you're not. i think she looks freakish and although not minging I would be raving about her either.

    You guys are sick puppies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,095 ✭✭✭Fantasy_Suicide

Yeah. I am planning on both. The corset was really to just define my shape for nights out under clothes and stuff.

I'm not overweight or anything, I just have damn big 38 inch hips naturally! And my waist is 34. So I do have that curve going on. But I just wanna reduce it is all.

On another note, thats Marilyn Mansons missus, she moved out a few months ago and he didn't notice she left until 2 weeks later:D (ah the life of a rock star!)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,165 ✭✭✭✭brianthebard

She moved out?? Score,I'm in with a shot again!

*ahem* OP someone above mentioned that Dita has implants, which in part explains how she looks like that. I don't know how far you are looking to go with this but in many ways corsetry is like a slightly less extreme body modification, fitness will get you so far but there's a lot of other factors to consider.
