R4 DS Cartridge for DS Lite ,€24 Delivered

I was hoping to get the R4 bundle including the 1GB memory card. Unfortunately the dealextreme site just isn't working for me. I've been trying to get it for the last couple of days.

If anyone has one of the R4 cartridges to spare, please PM me.

It's annoying alright. Theres a few things I want to buy from them. Not to mention ANOTHER r4 for my aunt.

I doubt anyone has one to spare. I have four myself which are all accounted for

I guess we'll all just have to wait till the site is functioning again. Hopefully sometime soon.

Has anyone been stung for duty on products from this site? I noticed that they have a popular service called "Drop Shipping Service" which seems to remove identifying "dealextreme" markings from the packaging. Has anyone used it?

The site is working grand for me Fnz, I just have to go through a "1 step security measure" and click to enter. A little dodgy, lol.

Why don't you go to a net café or something to buy it?

Wooo! I had a 15 second site usage window just now... managed to get the cartridge ordered before their site stopped responding (wouldn't redirect after paypals "You Made A Payment" page).

As was said it seems to only give you a certain amount of time to order before it shuts you out completly.

I restarted my router there and got back onto the site np.

it won't play GBA roms (according to the documentation that comes with it)

I had to email the site about the problems they were having and got a reply saying they had been attacked or something and were working on the problems since it returned my R4 has shipped via ems on sunday and has been released by customs somewhere in china 24 hrs ago and aint been updated since i am waiting for it to say landed in dublin. Is it the SDS that delivery it once its in ireland

I think its SDS via the postman. I had to pick it up from the sorting office as I wasn't in for the delivery. This is a great yoke:D . The young lad is thrilled with it!

GBA games run from slot 2. The r4 card goes into slot 1. So it's impossible to do I'm afraid. You'll need to get a slot 2 device.

As far as dealextreme goes, it worked fine for me all last night. I ordered another r4 and another 1gb micro sd card (something Id recommend people getting actually. its only an extra 12 euro. Believe me, you WILL want the extra space)

^^ Hey see the way you put the software onto the mini gig card from the cd you get,when you start it up you get three options..Games...Mulitmedia,the last option is for the Slot 2 etc...does it actually play music as well the R4? Movies?

Yep, just need a converter (link) to turn your vids and music into .dpg media files, which can be run on the R4.

I've put a few half hour tv shows on it and they're ~50MB each.

Yes, so that's a 22min 180ishMB avi down to a 50MB dpg file. The picture is good and the sound is excellent.

I used it on the R4 with normal non lite DS and it asks for the memory expansion.
Does that mean it only works with the lite without the expansion.

If i understand you right:
Theres no need to update the firmware on the DS to use the r4. You can update the firmware, but i dont think theres much need for it these days. I have an m3, and as long as you get all your downloads from reputable sources, i'd say there's no fear of brinking with the r4.

The browser comes with a gba like card for the other slot, that's the memory it's looking for, won't work without that.

A freeware homebrew browser that's showing promise can be found http://okiwi.blogspot.com/ it's only an alpha and can't connect to the internet yet.

There was another one I read about, I forget the name, but their latest unreleased version was corrupting memory cards so they're having alot of trouble and progress seems slow now.

R4 team is going to change their global supply cost schedule (about $2 to 3) -- that's what we were told. The current price reflects the cost of our currently stored inventory. When the inventory is sold out, the price may go up. For a better value deal, get the R4+TF combo.

Got and email from them the day after I ordered to say it was sent and got another email the other day to say they sent the second part of the shipment.

Woke up this morning to find the Micro SD card got delivered. Guess I have to wait another while for the R4. Doesn't bother me any way, got exams to do and this wouldn't of helped.
