Hi, just looking for some advice here, im thinking about starting adding some protein shakes to my diet. I do a lot of running but now i want to start doing weights aswel. Is promax the best one to use, and how best should it be used. I dont want to get really big, but i would like to get stronger, and be able to recover quicker and run faster/longer. Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dont touch promax, its too expensive and not that good at all, optimum whey by ON is my favourite, tastes great and is good quality stuff, EAS whey is good stuff as well

If you are training hard taking a protein shake straight after training allows your muscles to repair more quickly. Taking a casein protein shake before bed gives your muscles something to feed off during your sleep since you will develop a lot as you sleep. Basically they help aid recovery when used in tandom with a proper diet and an exercise program that is hard/intense.

First of all, avoid maximuscle as they are seriously overpriced and generally speaking much better is available much cheaper.

Secondly, what is your current diet? Without knowing this it is impossible to say whether protein shakes would be of great benefit to you.

Thirdly, don't worry about "getting really big". It's a lot harder than you'd think, it's like saying "I want to take up running but I don't want to accidentally win the Olympic 10,000 m event"

Drinking protein shakes aren't gonna make you fit im afraid. You have to be puting in some serious effort during consistent training for that. Shakes just help in getting extra calories/protein/carbs that are easily digested into your system after a tough workout to aid in recovery. Supplements are there to supplement your diet, hence the name, and if your diet is sh1t, there is no point in takin them.

What are you doing to get fit? Aside from thinking about protein shakes.
