    Hi All,

Just weighed myself after 5 weeks of healthy eating and increased excercise and I have lost 3.5 kilos in the 5 weeks.

    That's about 7.5 lbs.

Is that a healthy amount to lose or should I have lost more?

    I am male, 26 , started at 17st 2lb.

    Thanks

    S

That's a healthy, sustainable amount of weight to lose. It took you a long time to put on the weight, it won't disappear over-night.

Also, if you've increased your levels of exercise you'll have put on some muscle too, even if you're not exercising very vigorously. If its more than you were used to then your body will be adapting.

Think about what weight you'll be in another 5 weeks, and 5 weeks after that. It may not be huge losses but if you keep them in the right direction they'll really add up. You've seen how small gains can add up to a lot, it's the exact same in the other direction.

sounds good to me. a gentle weight loss like that is better you than a big drop. You are more likely to keep the weight off than if you dropped quickly.

    keep it up.

Everyone is different of course, but that's a nice amount to lose.
Averaging just over 1.5lbs per week.

I've been losing weight since the end of last May and I'm at a 40.5lbs total loss so far.
Some weeks I lost, some I maintained.
In fact, I even put on a little over Christmas but it's come off again.
It's a long process but if you're maintaining or losing weight then you're on the right track.
Even if you gain a little one week it's not a huge deal.

I don't know how often you weigh yourself but try not to do it every day and become obsessive about it.
I do it once, at the same time every week.
I don't even really think about it during the week.

I think the main thing you'll notice after a while will be how you look and how your clothes fit.
I can look in the mirror and see myself that what I'm doing is working.
I went to buy some new clothes today and realised that I've lost 6 inches off my waist and have dropped a couple of shirt sizes.

Just to reiterate any weight loss is a step in the right direction and an average of 1.5lbs per week is great.
I'm aiming for an average of 1lbs per week, for an overall total of 52lbs or there abouts for the year.

    Keep up the good work.

    Killian
