Skipping Killer on the calves

    Hello there.
    I would be of reasonable fitness . As in this is the start of my football season having finished up training with injury in November and doing some light gym training and 5 aside since early February.
    I train/play sport 3/4 nights a week and on the nights "off" im trying to do some skipping to build up stamina and help with my speed. However its murdering my calves!! they just cramp up no end after a few minutes. I try stretching and do a good all over warm-up before hand focusing on the calves because of my problems. Is this my style of skipping or is it just actually a sign that im doing it "right" no pain no gain theory :)
