Hi looking to purchase a medicine ball. Saw on the thread that it can be bought in Mullins on Capel Street. Does anyone know if that is still the case & also how much is one?.

Dunno about that place, irish-lifting do them http://www.irish-lifting.com/product_info_equipment.php?cPath=1_20&products_id=143

I have seen guides to making them, lads cut a hole in a basketball or football, fill with sand and duct tape them up again.

Thanks for that Rubadub. What the lads do with the football/basketball is a cheap&good idea

    This site has info http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-your-own-medicine-ball/
Also some ideas on what to fill it with
Dry sand has a density of around 1600 kilogram/cubic meter
Wet packed sand around 2000 kg/cu.m.
Some lighter household materials that would work for this instructable are:
Coarse salt is around 800 kg/cu.m.
Fine salt is around 1200 kg/cu.m.
Granulated sugar is around 850 cu.m.

Might actually try that option as its cheaper then actually buying one. Just went around Capel & Henry Street. €35 in Mullins & Argos while its €12.50 in Elverys which isnt that bad. Didnt know about TK Max. Might give them a look. Thanks for the help

That is quite cheap, a basketball is probably nearly as expensive over here! But I suppose any football will work. In the US a soccer ball is probably more expensive than a basket ball.

I was thinking of getting a large ball and filling with scrap metal, then fill the gaps with sand, should weigh a nice bit.
