  • Closed Accounts Posts: 36,634 ✭✭✭✭Ruu_Old

How much are you paying in total for it on credit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 LUCKY8

I Dont Think So! , I Will Have It Payed Off In 6 Months With No Interest , Just Gives Me A Bit More Time To Save Up Some Money, And Allows Me To Start Some Serious Ps3 Gaming Right Now Without Having To Shell Out Such A Big Sum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Id say around 1200???? depends what he got with it.. wonder what there APR is lol

Edit: 6 months at 20 euro jaysus is the ps3 only 120 euro? ill have to go in tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,475 ✭✭✭corblimey

All Argos stores offer 6 months interest free credit on stuff > 275 spods. You pay a paltry sum every month for 6 months and then something like 90% of the total as a balance in month 6. Failing to settle the account then brings in fixed apr of 25% or something like that. It's quite good, to be honest, particularly if you want that console now and can definitely pay off the full sum in month 6 (the 25% apr is a little crippling)

    /runs to argos

    €120 for a ps3 woooooooooo hooooooooo :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 LUCKY8

I`m Paying €20.83 Per Month, After 6 Months I Can Either Pay It Off In Total With No Interest Or I Can Keep Paying The €20.83 For 48 Months At Interest. But As I Said I Am Going To Clear It Off In September. I`m So Happy Cos All My Friends Forked Out The Full Amount For Theirs And Are Smashed Now , I Got My Hands On The Machine Without Handing Over That Punishing Amount Of Money.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 35,946 Mod ✭✭✭✭dr.bollocko

Thats defo handy if u wanna game without the sudden hit to the bank books, but surely you are just delaying the pain for 6 months?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 LUCKY8

I Think The Guy Said 25.9% If I Choose To Pay Over 48 Months , But 0% If I Pay Over 6 Months , Dont Have My Copy Of The Contract With Me Right Now To Confirm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,559 ✭✭✭The tax man

Argos offer 6 months interest free option on any goods over €275.Example at the back of the catalogue. Tiny payments each month then the balance due on sixth payment. After the 6 months it's 25.9% APR variable.

I suppose it gives someone time to safe up for the final payment.

EDIT jasus typing too slow. Already answered above.:o :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Yea delay that pain by 6 months and 120 euro lol... and yea its 25.9 i just checked on the website cause im smart  lol only buzzin

It might be a good idea to invest some of your savings on a course that would teach you the basics of english, i.e. capital letters only live at the start of sentences and proper nouns.

Good deal though, possibly one for bargain alerts.

I Can Tell You All , It Was Such A Good Feeling To Be Going Home With A Ps3 Under My Arm Today , Having Not Handed Over A Penny! :) , I`m Not The Only One Either , There Was A Good Few People Asking About The Finance Package While I Was There.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 LUCKY8

so if you dont pay it off after 6 months, the total price youll pay for your ps3 is €1124.82

    insane

But that is how they catch you with these interest free credit deals.
Make no mistake that they are trying to sucker you into 4 years of payments.
U have to play v. much by the rules, or u get stung into an agreement whereby you basically owe them an absolute fortune.

i know what your`re saying but if you just simply pay it all off after 6 months you have nothing to worry about , its that simple! i mean i have six whole months to save (and play!) :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,573 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 779 ✭✭✭mcgarnicle

I was all set to do this after reading this thread but after seeing the price is 650 with no games I can't justify it. Does anyone know if Tesco let you buy on credit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭mayto

Argos are a joke, they added 10/20 euros to the rrp of the 360 aswell. You would think they would have done the opposite. I absolutely hate argos! ;) . Seems like they release a new catalogue to raise the prices. Funny thing is, they sell the ps3 in the Uk at the uk rrp but hey were Irish we like to be ripped off. Wonder how they would justify this considering how everyone else is selling it for 630.

could you in theory, pay the 20€ for the first month..then return it before the second month? so you just payed 20€ for a months use of ps3;)?

and OP, stop writing every word with a capital..
Nope. Video games etc are exempt from the 30 day return policy, you can only return if it's broken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

there €630 in argos not €650
    see below

    http://www.argos.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=30001&langId=-1&catalogId=10751&productId=1500010431&Trail=C%24cip%3D52279.Video%2Bgames%3EC%24PROMOTION%3D1.Latest%2BPrice%2BDrops&categoryId=52279

Are all of the Argos stores doing that? It sounds very tempting.

been asked about this at work. you say an id and a bill you showed them? would a bank statement suffice instead of a bill?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭yom 1

Not 100% sure but it most likely would. They generally need them for proof of address so it doesnt matter if its a phone bill or esb or what so it should be ok as long as you have your photo id aswell

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

    that's what i thought

it would be great if you could chose your own repayment option (above a minimum) If i could pay off €100 a month for the six months i'd be down to argos in a flash. Paying €20 a month and still having over €500 to hand over at teh end doesn't seem all that appealing to me. A higher monthly payment would be great

100 a month would be much better actually

Simply put aside the other 80 or so a month until the last payment is required. Not difficult really!

how long does it take to capitalise every word?

yeah - but it would be a lot easier if they just took it off me direct!

Even if the payment is set at €20 a month you could more than likely pay more. If I end up going this route I would probably just get the system and pay that off. Buy the games, memory cards, etc myself with cash.

I wouldn't be surprised if some people buy tons of stuff with the PS3 on credit.

Harvey Norman do it interest free for 18 months which could be a better option for some

Anyone got any more info on the Harvey Norman deal? They don't seem to have a website here for some reason.

It's not a "deal" on ps's you get 18 months intrest free credit instead of argos's 6 month if it's not paid of in the 18 month's you pay the intrest on the remainder I think it's less than argos's 25% but probably not by much

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 864 ✭✭✭Aedh Baclamh

Oh they do it for all goods? Is there any catches at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,288 ✭✭✭✭ntlbell

Oh they do it for all goods? Is there any catches at all?

The only "catch" if you can call it that is you pay higher than average intrest rates if you don't pay it off in the 18 month's.

If you're confident you can pay it off in the given time there's no catch.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 864 ✭✭✭Aedh Baclamh

Do you know if they've got an Irish website?
