    Hi guys,

Now, im a 19 year old college student and at the start of second year a whole platoon of ppl from the same course moved into the same house, a few days later i began to wonder, "Why does the guy downstairs have a pistol, a TMP, a P90 and an AUG?".

When questioned about this he opened my eyes to Airsoft.

Now more than half a year later, only able to work for 5 hours on a sunday, i have enough money for my first Airsoft gun. Hooray!

Im looking at the JG G36, i was gonna get a USP and rent a SMG at the site, untill i could afford a G36, but the price of this is too much to pass up.

    Airsoft Scotland

4/5 guns down in that list.

im also looking to put a red dot sight on it, just to be cool

    My question is/are;

Does anyone have one of these?
if so, would you recommend it?
also, do you have a red dot sight attached to it? (post a pic pls)

    Questions?

That seems very expensive for a clone. I would imagine you could get it cheaper .

I'll check them out myself. Haven't really given that site a look over yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,182 ✭✭✭Genghiz Cohen

well that is a helluva lot cheaper, i worked out the shipping of the gun alone from gunner to be aboot €23, no i may have made a mess of it. rsov is looking good ATM, but gunner do stock
    http://www.gunnerairsoft.com/scope/aimpoint/index.htm

    what do u guys think?

I'll tell you how it is when I get mine tomorrow, it'll be my first AEG so I have nothing to compare it too. I ordered mine from rsov last Thursday, he sent it on Friday and it got here on Tuesday, fast delivery.

I have ordered an EoTech 551 sight from Fire-support for it, I wanted the 552 but they were out of stock.

The only problem with Gunner is it's more or less a one man operation. So you could be waiting quite some time for your order to be processed. He's always swamped over with them.

I was just giving you an example of how much cheaper you can get stuff from China ;)

Rsov might be the way to go.

cool, now what aboot bb's .23's i hear.

isnt the g36 above 1 joule?
did you get a downgrade, and if so how many monies were involved?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

I have .20s .23s and 25s and I find the 23s to be the best of both worlds in terms of velocity and accuracy.

    Either .23 or .20.

Paul at HRTA always has a stock of .20g. So if you're ever out at a game in swords you could just pick some up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

I think the JG G36 fires at more than 1J, I asked Keith in an email and he said it fired .20gs at 350fps. I hope it doesn't for me.

That's true actually. Once the spring gets seated in it should come down a bit. I hope so anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,182 ✭✭✭Genghiz Cohen

well ive e-mailed him already asking him for a downgrade, waiting on a reply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

You could always get a TM 1J spring and try to fit it yourself, the springs are ment to be easy to replace on the G36 AEGs.

is any fps testing performed by customs on the way in? or just physical inspection?

    No one knows!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Just physical I think, I can't see them having gas and BBs of different weights lying around for testing GBBs and AEGs, plus they would need batteries.

I imagine they've never even heard of a Chronograph, let along seen or used one.

They don't exactly need a chronograph. All they'd really have to do is go online and do a search for it.

You'll want to get .25's for the JG G36C to bring the muzzle velocity down to an acceptable level. They all pack M120 springs, far above the mark with .20's. One of ours crono'd at 364 fps with .20's. Go with Keith at rsov.com, he'll ship it within a couple of days, much faster then Gunners.

Okay, how many times do I have to say this! *tears out his hair*

    This statement is wrong.

If you use .25g bbs, the limit is no longer 328fps! It's all relative to the weight of bb you use!

According to the table I put up, 1 joule is 300fps with a .25g bb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Yep, the JG G36 works out at around 1.13J stock. Regardless of BBs.

Hmmm, not sure what the .25's will bring the G36's down to. I hear tell they can drop your velocity over the .20's by about 40-50. Guess we'll find out on Saturday.

If your AEG fires over 1j with .2g bbs, it will fire over 1j with any other bb you put into it.

If you put in a heavier bb, you will get a lower fps. But the fps to hit 1j will drop.

If you put in a lighter bb, you will get a higher fps. But the fps to hit 1j will increase.

    Get it?

No duh! I know that, I said velocity not power.

Any level that .25gs will bring the JG G36C to will be unacceptable as its firing over 1j!

    ?????

"Must not exceed a Muzzle velocity of 1joule"

    The velocity IS the power.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Trust me I do get it. You're right though, what I said there was wrong. The 364 fps that was crono'd with that gun was done before it had really been fired, so if the spring does calm down a bit then who knows.

If its chronoing at that before its calmed down, then it probably settles about 350. Still a little high.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yeah if they end up too high then Hetzer and Harlequin are screwed, they only have the G36's.

Paul chronos all the guns at HRTA. Could be a problem if they're shooting at that.

Hmmmm. Change of spring? Or is it worth the effort?

Not really worth doing unless your changing most of the internals on a clone. Won't do them much good for Saturday anyway.

Just to add a little fuel to the fire here :D all of you guys do realise that importing an AEG that is shooting over 1J even with the intention of down-grading it or hopeing that the spring settles is still technically importing an unlicensed firearm and as such is very very illegal, quick somebody go get spitfire :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭IronWolf

Staying on the right side of the law, of course it is Oisin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

Well I for one don't want to be shot at with anything over 1J when in HRTA. Sub-1J AEG's hurt enough thank-you-very-much. :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

It's unfortunate for use that clone company's are going for the upgraded springs out of the box to play to markets like the U.S. I can see this starting to happen more and more which will leave us out in the cold. Getting a clone and having to change the spring won't be worth it :(

exactly why i asked keith to downgrade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,917 ✭✭✭Wossack

if youre desperate I reckon you can just cut a few coils out of the spring to lower the power

(dont know the practicallity of this though, dont own one :D )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,182 ✭✭✭Genghiz Cohen

but i would still have to import an illegal firearm first

There were a couple of JG's firing at the first day at HRTA. Didn't seem to be a problem. ok granted they are over the 1 joule but not by much, they wouldn't feel that different when being hit by them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭N.O.I.P.

exactly why i asked keith to downgrade.

Kudos, I wasn't having a go just thought I'd mention it as it seemed a little silly to have people suggest you change the spring after it arrives etc so as not to break the law when importing it in the first place was doing just that.

An unlicensed fully automatic firearm, might I add.
