    ok i know the name is great its just a funny immature name that has sparked galway sayings such as...
    "off my ceannnnnnnt!"
    "that ceannnnnt!"

    and anything that varies from those two...

    but whys it called ceannt station?? whos this ceannt fella?? unfortunate name

    Eamonn Ceannt.
    He was one of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation.
    He was executed shortly after the Rising.
    Google for the rest.

    Nearly all the train stations in Ireland are named after the lads from 1916. They were changed soon after independence.
