What is the best iPoker skin to play on and why?

I'm wondering if it matters at all. Besides different rakeback and cashout options different skins may have (e.g. Irish vs. non-Irish ones), is there really any/much difference at all?

P.S. I hated the Tribeca software. Sooooo irritating to watch. The iPoker software is much more relaxed IMO. Still missing is a time bank like PokerStars has, but its looking good.

If it's a new account, I'd recommend Green joker. They've a good signup bonus and have an excellent loyalty scheme/sponsorship fund for their players.

I'd avoid paddy power like the plague as they have 0 advantages, although you might get a PS2 if you accumulate 3 billion Paddy Points.

Titan Poker have some good deals as well if you look around on sites such as bonuswhores.

I've only played on GJP since the merger and i've found it really good and their direct support has been excellent.

Is bonus whoring the only thing that makes one choose a skin? Because once you "had them all" there's no more signup bonus to do and then what? What skin would you then choose and why? Is there any difference then?

Well i've been with GJP for ages now as they've excellent deals for their players in the form of RB and a sponsorship fund to play live events. Bonuses are just an added incentive to play there. I dont have any bonuses to clear there at the moment though a reload one is coming in soon apparently...

How's that miner/hh converter coming along? Can you get the converter to use the images from flop turn river rather than just using plain text?

So there is a difference in the level of support per skin. And the player points schemes are different too. The general consensus seems to be that GJP is the best for those.

I just started working on GMP 2.0 yesterday, after I got the "not disallowed" from PPP support. iPoker itself never responded to my questions. :( I also just asked another skin, just to be sure/safe.

GMP 2.0 will be for iPoker and the GMP server will switch to 2.0 (which renders all 1.x versions unusable) in May latest, but hopefully April. It needs to be written and tested first. It will have the same "problems" as with Tribeca, e.g. no true starting stacks since that information isn't available in the dealer window. iPoker is a little more tricky to write for since it has more table and chat options, so give me a few weeks. (I do it in my spare time.)

The HH convertor will be 100% free as usual and written once GMP 2.0 is finished.

Then there's also a 100% free non-poker surprise, for the gamblers amongst us. Its already finished and just needs some testing/tweaking. More about that in the gambler's area once GMP 2.0 is finished.

Cool, well I'll definitely be buying the new version of Goldmine whenever its available. I think $25 is a reasonable price as thats what io paid foir the Tribeca hand grabber...

    GJP all the way.
Rakeback and sponsorship fund with cus service 2nd to none, leaves the competion in their wake IMHO.

I'm with noble at the moment. Nice sign-up bonus and the most rb i've found (although I admit I don't know what GJP are offering).

Seeing as this is such a great value deal can you tell me exactly how much rake would need to be payed by a player in order to accumulate 540000 paddy points?

Once that's clarified and the great value offered by the points for prizes scheme is known to all I'll retract any previous statement regarding the value of playing on PPP compared to other Ipoker skins.

I play STTs and get 15 pts per dollar rake, so a mere $36000 rake will get that particular TV.

Why are you always so negative Ian? :)

That is good value. If you take the value of the TV being $1,500 (and I'm being generous there) that works out as about 4% RB. But if you compare it to the Points for Cash Karl linked, where you can earn a massive $1 for every 1,000 points you earn.
Exchange your PADDY POINTS for real cash at the click of a button. Click on the "MY POKER" section of the poker client. (1000 points = $1)
So taking AJ's figures again, it would cost ~$66 in rake to earn 1,000 points, working out at a whopping 1.5% RB. Now there is value people, take those LCD TV's everytime. Although I think I've probably just vastly over estimated the Value of the 32" LCD TV on offer, as you can get a pretty good one for under €1,000 (£1,330 using todays rate) nowadays.

EDIT: I also agree with Lloyd, Karl and PPP-Pitboss are just doing their jobs, but it's just so much fun running the numbers that I couldn't help myself...

Karl, you have a duty to defend the indefensible. I understand, as gainful employment is +EV. Though I choose to humbly agree with Ian on this one.

we speaking the same language? :)

i'm not paid to defend f'all on here Lloyd so no need to make me out to be Goebbels.

I've been on boards long time and i'm always very open about what is my opinion and when i am announcing something or answering a q on behalf of the company.

I was merely pointing out that ppp now has a very transparent, competitive VIP programme of which the store is only a part.

i'm not claiming ppp offers wholesale refunds to people like some sites, just pointing out the original point Ian made about offering nothing but a bad value TV is not the case.

lol. karl as a serious poker player yourself I still find it amusing that you can tell people that PPP are competitive in terms of the value they offer when compared to other competitors on the same network.

Telling anyone with any form poker ambition to play on Paddy Power Poker is telling them to make a seriously -EV choice.

The one good thing about PPP is it attracts casual fish/gamblores who play there because of Paddy Powers reputation as a bookmaker in the Irish marketplace.

"still" would suggest i have this conversation often....

I'm comparing the site to the big players on iPoker like Titan and Noble. The VIP scheme, customer service and tournament choice on ppp leaves them for dust IMO. There are some affiliates with little or no overheads which will always be able to undercut.

the points for cash converting is admittedly worth very little, it's a standard feature on the network, but is only part of the VIP programme. the whole idea of it is to reward players for playing more and the higher tiers get much bigger cash bonuses if you read down the page.

it's not 57% rAK3baCk!!!!111one for all but it compares favourably with the majority of sites on the network.

anyways, my original reply was only to correct what i thought was an incorrect statement by Ianmc. I'll get back in my (gold-plated :)) box and let Jacques get his replies.

You'd better get back in there. And quick. I have a large PPP bashing stick that I'm chasing/beating people down with of late. Be warned.

Thank you. I feel that PPP isn't that bad of an option indeed. V.C. for example =

Also, I still owe you a few pints. :D

I really hate the notes on ipoker. Just a tiny little box you can barely fit three words into. Awful.

off topic (apologies) does anyone know how do copy hands of the ppp history channel.

GJP is my choice by far....

As mentioned, bonus/rakeback/loyalty package is one of the best around.

plus its a "small" Irish site trying to make it..not a large greedy multinational PLC feeding off peoples addictions ( GJP will be this monster in a few years, but for the moment we will ignore this fact:D )

Guys involved in GJP are well known boardies and even with a level playing field warrant our support.

The main reason is that I find their cash tables v. lucky!;)
