Any one got any favourite US treats that are unavailable here??

Alot of US sweets are just named differently. I can't think of any too many apart from some of the Reeses variety of sweets.

    What are Goobers?

Reeses stuff can actually be gotten here, pretty hard to find though.

I have a ridiculously sweet tooth, this thread makes me want to visit America :o

I find Reese's sickeningly sweet. I ate five tiny peanut butter kisses or something, and I couldn't get to sleep that night because I felt so nauseous.

Peanut butter M&Ms though are amazing!

Actually, now that I think of it, did anyone ever taste 'mike & ikes'? They are frikkin gorgeous, could eat a bucket of them and I still wouldn't be sick of them.

A nice snack that comes around once a year, Girl Scout cookies. It is so easy to go through a pack. :)

Jolly Ranchers were available here years ago, then they just vanished. I used to like them; strong fruity flavours, smooth and long-lasting, in a handy pocket sized pack. Very different, very nice, reasonable price too.

Mike and Ike are deadly! The cherry ones. I also devoured a massive bag of Starburst jelly beans.

    Goobers are chocolate covered peanuts.

And no one can make waffles like the Americans. The size of the plate, fluffy and crisp with a ton of butter and maple syrup. *Ow my heart hurts*:D :D

junior mints are great. in general their sweets arent as good but you can get some small regional companies that do really good stuff.

Gatorade is my favourite drink for sunny days/excersise, its only coming in here now and it costs 1.99:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭shortys94

    I like butterfingers

And having lived in America, astonished that no ones mentioned the entenmann's baked goods, o my god its awesome. And the chips are pretty good, what are they again, fritos? Yea theyre pretty good but get bad if you eat too much of them.

Also love Cinabuns (cinnamon buns) dont know if you can get them here but mmmmmmmmmmmm delish. And of course the chocolate chip cookies. And ice tea, dont like the nestea here since they introduced the "new taste".

Also I love ice cream cakes, can you get them in Ireland? Theyre so great.

    TWIZZLERS TWIZZLERS TWIZZLERS YAY!

By the way i know there is an Australian shop in Dublin somewhere that sells Aussie sweets (dont ask me where though) is there somewhere you can get American candy here?

I suppose you could get it on the net.

    But that takes ages.

    Anywhere here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,649 ✭✭✭Catari Jaguar

You can get Entenmann cakes in most supermarkets here. The chocolate ones and they have gorgeous carrot cake too.

I used to buy 1/2 pound boxes of these when I lived in SF - cherry was my fav so imagine my delight when I saw a little sweet machine with what I thought were all cherry Mike&Ikes. I quickly deposited my 50c (half of my laundry money!!) and threw a few into my mouth. Sadly they were those disgusting cinnamony War-Heads - they burnt the mouth off me! :D Milk Duds and Junior Mints would be my favorites now, followed by peanut and almond M&Ms.

Was just about to say that. Entenmann's products are available over here but for some insane reason they don't stock the Coffee Crumb Cake over here. Man, thats some good cake...

Lil Kitten, you used be able to buy peanut butter M&Ms on ebay. Or get an American to send you over some.

I'm going to the US of A in 4 weeks and I'm going to eat ALL the peanut butter M&Ms I can get my hands on for 12 weeks! Then bring back a suitcase full! I'm really excited about trying twinkies too!

I'm torn... really I am. They're unopened, but the thought of selling them for €50 galls me, then again, supply & demand & all that...

    Make it €60 & we have a deal :D

Ooooh... yum! What you really wanna try are the Oreo ice creams. Oh, and the waffles and pancakes. And Cheesy Poofs. And the weird cereals they have. No wonder Americans are obese.

You still can. Most stuff mentioned is on ebay. Only worthwhile if getting a big amount due to postage, but if you get enough it works out the same as if buying here. You can also get older sweets, including my favourite - coconut mushrooms

Super Hot Cheetos... they made my fingers orange... Oh how I loved those little snacks. 7/11 dollar cookies are soooo good too... Cold Stones Ice Cream! I loved that stuff...
