    Recently I saw a tub of powdered chalk in a hardware store and bought it. Obviously it's intended for building/decorating rather than lifting or climbing :) Question is, is all chalk the same and is the stuff I have any good for lifting. On the tub it says "Faithfull White Chalk. Chalk For Chalk Line".

    From trying it, it seems to make very little difference to my grip but my hands were not sweaty at the time so that might be a factor.

    I've never tried decorator's chalk, however climbing chalk I have found to be very useful for lifts where grip is an issue.

    The little cloth bag that you squeeze to "dispense" the chalk is also handier than loose chalk, which can get awful messy.

    Hmmmm can't comment on your chalk. But I know for me it makes a big difference. Even when my hands aren't sweaty it improves my grip.

    I like blocks of chalk, Ive always found it hard to get enough on with those little bags. Plus if you're chalking your back for squats then it's impossible to do with those bags.
