As a further to the previous post i put up

    As in my quote

"become the cahnge you want to see in the world today"

I DO NOT workout and stay in amazing shape for me

i do it so i can be a role model for all my clients and the people i meet, i do it for the increased energy i have to work with my clients, i do it because i know i am a better person and think alot clearer as a result of regular exercise. This is the essence of long term training, the why?

The unexamined life is not worth living and most people happily will piss and moan about what they want rather than how they can contribute.

Exercsie has the potential outlet for change and most need a good kick in the ass to realise this. How you treat your body says mountains about what is going on inside your unique mind and yes i do think that those that do not take care of themselves are destroying their ability to grow as in individual.

You have to let go of who you think you currently are before you can move to who and where you want to be for gods sake!

So fu&*waiting for the change to happen - be the bloody change!

I agree with the second part of the above but can you explain what you mean by "unexamined life"? I cannot say I've done much navel grazing although I train for goals health, looks, performance (depends on my mood which order they come in) . I look after me and my responsibilities but more so on instinct rather than through examination.

sounds quite like a PI session.....:D

Stickin to a gym routine has so many benefits, before you even mention fitness, strength etc

I think fat PTs [and theres a few at my gym] are the most ironic thing ever

Like a dentist with bad teeth!

I know all PTs have the knowledge, but they should use it themselves too!

Navel gazing is not the point, its just asking yourself why you are doing what you do and for what reasons. If those reasons turn out to be all for extrinsic reasons then its alot harder to maintain motivation for the ling run

e.g. playing pro sports just for the money rather than the love of the game or
deciding to get yourself in great shape because you think you will be more attractive to the opposite sex
    or
deciding to drop you fat levels because you want your peers to compliment you

All of these examples will lead to short term success but long term failure as there is no drive to do it for a bigger reason than the transient gain.

Oh and on out of shape personal trainers - they were never hired by me when i was working in gyms and its the managers fault for hiring them in the first place
