Well you can't go wrong with Tokyo Marui and if you like the DE I'd say go for it, eHobby is about as good value as you can get. I normally wouldn't recommend getting a pistol first but if you plan to be playing at H.R.T.A. it'll be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yea i have heard myself that Tokyo Marui are great that's why i choose this gun over a few others. I think the fact that it is metal (chrome) would make it more durable too?

When you say you wouldn't normally recommend a pistol at first, what do you mean? Like an AEG is better to start?

Also, where would i be able to buy HFC 134a & HFC 22 Airsoft Gas. I read on this forum about somebody buying propane from B&Q and using that, woudl that work with this gun?

The colour of the gun is chrome. It's still made of ABS plastic.

You won't be able to use propane with this gun as it's Japanese. You can only really use propane and green gas with chinese made pistols.

Oh damn. I thought it was actually a metal finish. What would you pay roughly for a metal finish? So i'd have to order this HFC gas from ehobby all the time? Is there anywhere i can buy it in Dublin?

Just that if you playing long range games such as woodland you'd get pwned with just a pistol but for CQB it's fine. You can use propane as long as you have an adapter, no problem.

And to answer your other question. AEGs are generally best for a beginner as they require much less maintenance then gas powered pistols. A lot more reliable too.

Well if you want a desert eagle you'll have to go with that plastic Tokyo Marui one I'm afraid. No one else seems to make them.

Fiach, you can't use green gas or propane with Japanese made pistols. Including Toyko Marui. Due to all the plastic parts.

    Well its not advised anyway.

    .

Didn't actually know that. You learn something new everyday:) I'd suggest the KJ Works P226 then, full metal for $120 and it can take propane.

    Thanks for the help guys

Well is there any other pistol on ehobby within the price range of the DE that you's would recommend? Or do you think i have an ok gun here and stick with it?

Actually you'd love any of the KJ Works full metal pistols. They're really well priced too. Would cost you about €100 after shipping.

Personally I wouldnt buy that gun. It's simply too expensive for something made of plastic.

Here's a full metal KJ Works m9. I'd buy one if I had the money.

It has an amazing recoil. I've been meaning to get one for ages!

Yes i share that opinion now that i see the DE is fully plastic. That one looks really good. I think i'll back down on the DE. I lookign at the KJ's at the moment and i think they look great. Would this gun be considered a good one in the market, or are you recommending due to it being a good starting pistol?

Also, the orange tip isn't shipped to Ireland right?

I'd say you should go for an AEG first... Using a single, semi-auto pistol for a skirmish, even in CQB, would surely get very annoying... ??? You'd be destroyed by everybody who has an AEG! Even if full auto aint allowed. Unless you invest in a 250 round magazine or somethin, lol

That pistol is as good as they come really. Don't be put off by the cheap price! And nope, no orange tip. That's just for America. I pity them :D

Yep that's the one. I have one myself and love it. It'll take Marui P226 mags too which is a nice bonus :) It's both a good pistol and a good starter pistol. No they won't have the orange tips, thats only for the U.S.

you can also get that kjw sig in ireland.
If you want it you could have it tomorrow or the next day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

It's a good GBB, I have only used 134 gas in it so far. I dont want to use 22 gas yet just in case, even though it can take the pressure.

I was shocked by how accurate it was out of the box using .23grs, no need to mess with the hopup.

I went for the above KJ Works m9 btw. Paid and all! Let's hope it was a good buy!

I hope they process you order faster than mine.

I have been waiting two days for them to process a box of 10 real cap G36 mags, an M3 tac light and a fore grip.

Last time I placed an order with them it was processed and shipped in 12hrs! That was for the 226.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Gazza22

Yea hopefully. I don't mind once it doesn't stretch beyond a week!

Tell me, i have about 5000 bb's at home. I bought them with a €15 cheap pellet gun in paris last year. Would these type of bb's be ok for my new pistol or do the good airsoft pistols need a high grade bb?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Do get some high grade BBs. At least .20g in weight. I have a ton of cheapo BBs that I will never put in my GBB. Odds are they will shatter, miss feed and ruin the internals of the gun.

I got gas and BBs from fire-support.co.uk they have quick delivery. I got 6,000 Excel 0.23g BBs and 2x 750ml cans of gas from them two weeks ago. Delivery was only 2 days. Gas can't be shipped by airmail btw.

Sounds about right. My last two orders took 2-3 days to be processed, looks like they are slowing down :(

Got to agree. Unless you are sure the bb's you have are good quality, I suggest not using them. All it takes is one bad bb and you've got major hassle.

    Great guys thanks.

That supplier in Ballymount, does he stock the gas for the KJ Works m9?

    Gazza22 wrote:

Yes he does, he has 134 gas that is suitable for all GBBs, he might have 22 gas aswell. 22 gas is more powerful and can be used in KJWs with a lot of metal and other high metal content GBBs.

    He has quality BBs aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

well the gas i got off him the other day is cybergun APS3 blow back gas...
afaik it's basically green gas... should be fine in _most_ GBBs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Gazza22

Thanks sorry about all the Q's, i'm new :o

I know it would depend on usage obviously, but generally how long would a gas canister last on average?

Also, what price is it roughly in Ballymount for the gas + bb's?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

Gas is €16 per can of 750ml. The BBs depends on the brand and weight you want and how many.

I don't know how long a can of gas lasts. But when I fill my 226 mag up with gas, I get around 130-150 shots depending on the temperature.

I estimate that you may get 5,000-6,000 shots out of a 750ml can but it also depends on the GBB model. Some use more than others per shot.

Pity though i messed up the payment. I thought when i was told the US shipping is same to shipping to Ireland meant just $25, i paid that and they got onto me this morning asking for another $10.

So i don't think it'll be even processed until after the weekend now!

Do you have a source of gas sorted yet? A few people here bought their GBBs before they had gas or bbs.

As you can imagine, they went mad waiting :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Gazza22

No, i have no gas or bb's yet.

I'm thinking of going to that Ballymount supplier next week and getting some gas and bb's! I have a few 'ooo bb's at home but they are only cheap ones i bought with a €15 euro pistol in paris last year which i have been advised not to use in the airsoft pistol!

Btw, what grade of bb is the best to buy for m9? And what gas would you recommend?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

MORE OR LESS ANYTHING WITH A WEIGHT OF .2G OR .23G OR .25G IF YOUR M9 IS ON THE LIMIT.

bALLYMOUNT CAN MAIL YOU GAS AND BBS TO YOUR DOOR.

Any high quality bb manufacturer really. Excel are what I usually try and get my hands on.

The rubbish ones you have at the moment would be .12g in weight. Aside from the fact that they have bad seams and poor construction (which will ruin the inside of your GBB), they'd be too light to fire.

Either .20g .23g or .25g will do you fine.
The .20 will give you distance, the .25 more accuracy. So the .23 is a really nice middle one. Anything higher then .25 then will just be too heavy and your distance will really suffer.

Cybergun green gas is meant to be quite good. I have some ICS which is ****e.

Ideal situation, get the propane adapter and just use propane from B&Q

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yeah Excell are the best for value and quality, I've been using their .20's so far and I have 30000 .25's on the way in the post so I must like them :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Gazza22

Thanks. I'll call into ballymount next week so and pick some up.

That would be the ideal situation getting the propane adapter. I'll invest in one when i've settled in! The propane in B&Q must be a lot cheaper is it?

I think its about €11 euro or so per bottle. And the bottles looked a decent size too. Importing green gas costs a lot more then it should. Not to mention the fact that it can't be airmailed. So it takes a while to get it.

Oh it's really nice. Feels great, and the weight is very realistic.

No thankfully i didn't! I noticed it was marked as just "Toy" on the package so maybe that helped. The delivery was brilliant too, posted from Hong Kong on tuesday night. arrived friday 3pm!
