Jackie Skelly - What's the deal this month?

I know, I know... The monthly offers are usually fake and "made up" but I am currently thinking about singing up with them as I'd love to use their pool on a regular basis and - unfortunately - JS runs the only pool around here...

Anyway, can someone tell me a bit more about their prices? What is the 2005 deal? I called them already but they refuse to give basic information on monthly fee and sing up fee on the phone... Does anyone know what I am looking at when I sign up and then on a monthly basis?

    Thanks all!

i pay €67 a month and i joined over a year ago. i would not recommend the gym on clarendon st. There are not many weights and any time i go, whether early morning or lunch time you will probably have to queue to get on a weight machine.

I've never in fact got to do a bench press in the place!

Thanks man. Do you remember what the sign up fee was like back then?

It is 67 yoyos a month and free to join this month(I think, been running deal since january) were are you located?
As for using the pool, I hope you dont want to use it before 6.30 in the evening because its like a creche (swords).

there was no joining fee for me either.

Parkwest is a bit like a creche as well, pool and gym

Imagine the same is true for most JS apart from the Clarendon Street, family memberships seem to be a big part of their strategy.

    Hey there!

Just joined JS Greystones, charged €63 per month direct debit and €25 signing up fee with no joining fee. So thats €88 this month and €63 for the remaining 11 months of the year.

    Goodluck!

    park west is a joke!

They allow kids to use the machines in the gym, and then they head to the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room afterwards, nevermind the divebombing and messing in the pool. Not pleasant to be sharing a jacuzzi with half a dozen roaring teenagers! And there is never any supervision in the place compared to any of the other three gyms I've been in around the country.

The price is ridiculously high compared to the Sheldon park hotel gym down the road. It is crazy that the monthly fee is the same in Clarendon St and in out of town locations. The Osprey in Naas - now that is a gym - has a lower monthly fee than this!

I will be leaving as soon as my contract terminates - 18 months unfortunately, of which only 10 gone.

And I hated that they would tell you nothing over the phone. The hard sell is unreal. Can't even get away from them when you go shopping to Liffey Valley!

Ben dunnes new gym on santry lane is great, lots of weights, quiet in the mornings and only 345euro for the year, no joining fee, What is this joining fee anyway, it means you have to pay to pay to become a member? RIP OFF! northwood i think its called (santry lane) is really a decent price compared to my old gym total fitness and the equipment is the same if not BETTER! the pool is great too as are the jacuzzis

I'm in the JS in ballsbridge and it was 65 euro a month and no joining free I think. I'm in the place at 7am and its dead quiet, don't think I've ever had to wait for a machine or weights. The only drawback would be there's only smith machines, no squat rack or proper bench press.

wow thats still 780euro a year man! now thats a lot of money for gym membership, especially one that hasnt got a bench press (basic stuff) or leg press! but people are forced to pay theese prices because other preple pay them. the sooner the better people realise what a rip off MOST gym memberships are and do something about it the better!!!!

Well I initially joined the gym for the swimming pool and wasn't too pushed about the weights but I've since gone back to the weights and I am regretting it to a certain extent. The thing is the gym is about 3 minutes walk from my doorstep and it makes it really easy to use. I'd rather spend 800 on a gym I'm using 5 times a week than 400 on a gym I'll end up using 5 times a month.

I live a stones throw away from JS greystones, but i travel into the Dubin City Center to train in a gym, why? Because JS too damn expensive! and paying for such a high price it doesn't have decent training equipment even, except for those interested in cardio. I went their once just out of curiousity and left the place one unhappy chappy. Id rather travel 2 hours in/out of the city center for a good training session in a good gym than go to that place!

If you live near greystones/bray area id recommend going to Loughlinstown, much better gym and cheaper.

thanks Degsy but whatever it is its good value for money compared to the prices been thrown around here, and it has ALL the equipment too. fair play to the fella who travels from greystones cos his local gym is too dear, if everyone done that "local" gyms would lower their prices, but some seem to think they have the monopoly cos there might not be another one near by,.
And by the way degsy, isnt that coolock lane your talkin about headin towards northside??? i always knew it as that? could be wrong tho

Their leisure centres are overpriced and in the ones I've been in poorly laid out and poorly equipped.

It is incorrect imo/ime to call them a gym as whilst some have db's upto 50kgs they have one, maybe two smith machines and a dozen machines which are not even plate loaded.

I would strongly suggest people seek other alternatives. €75 per month is way, way too much!
