    Howdy,

Been out of the whole 'airsoft' world for a while due to college and such , but now that the days are getting longer and milder I'm looking forward to spending some summer evenings popping holes in targets :D

Anyway, I'm looking to get some .25g bb's, like I say, as I've been away from the airsoft for a while, is there any good deals out there now, or can anyone recommend a site where I can get as much bb's of a good quality at a resonable price.

    Cheers ;)

Flecktarn.co.uk is the best value if our buying 3-5 bags or so, they only have excel 0.2s and 0.25's though but their good

That seems a good price! Cheers ;)

I know www.fire-support.co.uk/ give a nice discount of you buy in bulk. I was thinking of buying a few dozen bags of bb's in a few weeks time. Perhaps a few people here would want to pool our orders to save on shipping costs?

I have quote from them with exact figures, but it's in my work email account. I'll check on tuesday when I'm back in work.

Yep Fire support are good, I got a load of Excel 0.23g BBs from them and 134a gas, good quick delivery and suppoort at a good price.

Thanks for the sites guys, looks like my money will be going to flecktarn :D

Right, more questions. Anyone here have a VSR10 Pro Sniper?

If so, have you done any upgrades, ie springs, barrels, pistons etc etc...if so feed me info :D, also, anyone try the 'VSR10' with the 'real shock', I'd like to add that 'real' thud affect to my one, did anyone remove the weights from the piston and are looking to part with them? Or know of a source for them.

What your preferred bb weight, target distance etc etc.

    Thanks! ;)

I have to say, I was very disappointed with the VSR-10. Especially the weight. The thing is way too light. Feels very flimsy. The stock bolt is also too easy to pull back. Feels like you're firing a toy.

The one I used didn't have the real shock effect. But from what I've read, it's not that great either.

All in all, its a right shame. I was set on buying one myself. Looks like I'll just stick to my UTG sniper till I can afford a l96 ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

They feel very toyish alright ill be the 1st to admit that :( , adding a large scope does help a bit . ive the realshock version myself and tbh Croppy the recoil effect is pathetic at best. I got mine second hand and its barrel and possibly hop unit is a bit fuxed.
BB weight well id say 0.28's or 0.25's are the only options realy ,0.25's if its completely stock but its pretty cheap to get it up to 1 joule and 0.28's could be worth trying their

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

I've never handled any other sniper airsoft guns so I cant compare, but I'll take your word for it :), is it being light not an advantage though on the 'playing field' so the thing wont drag the arm out of you. Might be lightweight, but tis pretty accurate and well built.

Hmm....plenty of free space in that stock under the barrel.....wonder if I could fit in a chunk of metal or some lead :D that oughta weigh her down a little!

Oh, and I guess I wont bother with the piston weights, cheers guys.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

Ya being light does help allright, and despite being toyish in nature its still the most recommended bolt action around for its accuracy.Theirs oodles of space in the stock aswell which ive tought of sticking stuff into sometime

Just after putting in 3 weights under the barrel/trig mechanism and another weight in the butt. I made them from strips of lead rolled up and hammered into shape to suit the stock and held in place with double sided tape for now.

Dont feel toy like no more :D after getting very heavy, and even though the 'pro sniper' version doesnt have the Real Shock effect it used to just a little, but I notice now with the added weight its steadier :)

AH! Another question....sorry, but its silicon oil that you have to use on these airsoft weapons, right? Can that be got locally?

It can, just makesure it doesnt contain petrolleum distilates[happend me :( ], It needs to be pure silicon apparantly.

looking for some myself as i just ordered a propane adaptor for the m190 i ordered the other day, gonna check out some of the model shops in town (dublin) during the week and see if they have any.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Cheers guys! ;) Theres a car shop here in town that also specialise in quality RC cars and the likes, I assume they'd stock silicone oil.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭[--SC(+)PE--]

i got mine in a car shop aswell, just check all the ingrediants and make sure theirs no distilates in it especially if your going be using it on the hop rubber

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Well I got a 400ml can of silicon spray in a motor shop, cost me 5 yo-yo's, even though it said 6 on it :)

It doesnt say it has petrolleum distilates....but then it doesnt say it hasnt got it either . I should be ok, I'll take off the hop up unit when I'm doing the barrel and such.

Ordered two bags of .25g bb's off Flecktarn too last night and they got them in the post today, so eagerly awaiting them, good service they have, they even send you a picture of your order! :p

It also eats into plastic doesn't it? Can do damage to most of the gun. You'd really want to check it out first before you go using it on anything/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

I dont plan on going crazy with it o1s1n, I'll strip the gun down and remove all the plastic bits before I add any of it. It says on the back of the can under 'uses':

-As a glossing agent for plastic and metallic surfaces

    Sounds alright

Well then that would be alright :)
As a matter of interest, what kind of a gun are you going to be lubing? A GBB or an AEG?

Actually, back to the original topic, are BFSL still importing bbs? I wouldnt mind getting some more of those blue .25gs again.

My one and only VSR10, so no electrics or gear boxs etc to worry about, just a bolt, reciever and barrel. I actually meant to look up some grease to lube the piston and spring, I guess you'd get some of that in the car shop too. She's been laid up practically since last October, so getting her back in firing condition.

    Who are BFSL?

Actually have you upgraded the spring or anything for it? I couldn't believe how weak the thing is stock. Needs an upgrade straight away.

Class! I didnt realise there was an Irish retailer! Are they an agent for a particular brand? ie you order something and they send for it, or they have the guns in stock?

No I havent upgraded it yet, I was looking about for upgrades but sort of dont know what I'm looking for, I guess its just a simple case of a new spring? Any good sources for them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

You're selling BB's nonex? I find the .20g too light, even out to 20m at +/-300fps they tend to wander a bit. Thats why I'm getting the .25g's they stay on target :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 828 ✭✭✭whupass

At the min BFSL are stocking CA AEG's and KJW pistols.
Will be getting a text from Derek soon when he will become the main distributer for bassically all the top brand guns. overnight delivery if he has your order in stock for 8euro and 7-10 day delivery if it has to come from his supplier

Thats great news. Does he have a price list of his CA range. Its hard to get a good deal on the CAs except for the US sites but then you get lumped with orange tips.

    http://www.hobbytron.com/ClassicArmyAirsoft.html

I was going to order their CA G36K pack but I'm afraid I'll get stuck with an afterglow flash hider.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,323 ✭✭✭Spitfire666

could always then buy a flash hider from uncompany or ehobby to replace it?

No price list up yet but should be a full list up by next weekend

Ok, so I think I have it ;) ......Airsoftscotland.com have 110m springs for the VSR, this will bring the power up to 320/330fps. That sounds ok right? So I only need to pop in a new spring, the power isnt substantial enough to warrant having to buy tougher sears and the likes.

Did anyone have dealings with AirsoftScotland? Are they reliable?

Oh, and on the bb's, I ordered them from Flecktarn Tuesday, they were in Ireland by Wednesday and 'an post' still havent delivered them, so freakin' slow!

Probably customs checking to see if they are classed as bullets :D

Or customs have lost them. They tend to lose stuff every now and again.

Feckers! They probably think they're drugs either! One time when I got bb's delivered they came through the letterbox in a clear plastic 'an Post' bag with the writing 'your parcel/letter was damaged in the post, we have taken the utmost care to ensure none of the contents were lost or damaged blah blah blah' there was only less than half of the bb's left!
