GPS Problem

I've recently bought a secondhand boat that is fitted with a Navman 5100 Chartplotter but it's not working. The unit will switch on occasionally and work fine but switch it off and leave it awhile and it won't switch back on. Voltage, wiring and connections seem to be fine. Power is from two 12v 70ah batteries in parallel, they're fairly old but there's plenty of power for the radio and FF.

    Any GPS Gurus out there?

It sounds like a loose connection. If it was a problem with the unit it wouldn't work at all. Try checking the connections with a multimeter but it sounds like a loose or corroded connection. The other possiblity is a faulty power switch on the unit.

Got it, a faulty switch on the fuse board, Thanks PR.
