NOT playing in the IRISH OPEN.?

Ok, this is a bit of an unusual one but if there are 35 people willing to do this it might be worth it

EDITED BELOW TO REFLECT THE MAJORITY OPINION.

    My Idea.
Not everyone can of course play in the Irish Open due to the costs involved. So my idea is that 35 people contribute 100 Euro to a pool. The SYNDICATE then play a freezeout to see who represent them in the Open. The guy who plays should get an agreed percentage of the winnings (15 to 20%) with the remaining split amonst the syndicate. So for 100 Euro, you can either play (35 to 1 chance) OR if you lose the FREEZEOUT you have still got a stake in the event. You only lose if the player doesn’t cash...

    IT's NOT a SATELLITE , it's a syndicate .

Sound good to anyone?....might be the only way to partake in this for some people.

I like the idea. Have to play for it though, as that would not only be a warm up to the event but will prove that you've got "it". When would this happen?

It can happen as soon as we have enough players to buy a ticket. Any time, any place that suits all. Mine is just the idea, we can agree the rest.

End of the month sometime? See how many we get 1st. . Either way we can get some kind of syndicate.

I'll leave the open for a while...bit of interest so far.

I'd do it if we played a tournament. Also, do you think 10% is a little low for the player? Could be upwards of 24hrs work! Maybe 20% would be better?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 513 ✭✭✭HalfBaked

As above. I'll do it if we play a tourney instead of drawing for it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 567 ✭✭✭Solksjaer

Whatever the majority decide goes. Like I said earlier. Mine is the suggestion and I would be part of it, so whatever is decided is fine by be. I'll gladly pay 100 Euro and play in a syndicate freezeout event to decide the player. (whatever the % he get's )

Let's see how this develops. The 2 million prizemoney is too tempting not to have at least an interest in the main event.

    Open to suggestion?

I'm in if we play for the seat.

    I suggest this divvy .....

1 player plays in the event - he gets 15% of his total cash.

34 share what's left (85%) - each non player therefore gets 2.5% of prize won by player.

1m first prize = 150k for player and 25k each for others

    It's in the bank :D:D:D:D

SSSsshhhh, it's called value, that means your odds on playing are reduced.
Hopefully they are comitted. I'm logging off now until tomorrow.

So we have 19 now. Excellent....and JP chips to use , sounds like we'll make the 35 no probs.
It's have to be the 1st 35 to post, then someone can start another batch/syndicate. Peharps 200 a head....Let's get more home lads playing this...

    Sounds like a good breakdown.

    But its €550,000 1st prize.

Do you think it would be a good idea after getting the 35 to have a list of alternates? Just in case someone cannot make it on the day that we determine who will get the seat.

    OR
Screw the list of alternates, cause if you are commiting yourself to the syndicate and cant play on the day you still are putting up the 100 euro.

Just wondering as you know sometimes life tends to get in the way of playin poker

WE HAVE 35. I didn't expect this so quick. The 35 are below. Any additional people will be added as reserves in order of post..ie if you post next you are 1st reserve, etc. I'm sure one or 2 will drop out. There will have to be a cut off date. I'm suggesting
one week before the freezeout to pay for this or the reserve gets your place. If you pay the 100 and don't turn up to the freezeout event, you are still in the Syndicate.

The Difficult part -we need to decide WHERE and WHEN for this freezeout.

I'm thinking (now just a suggestion) we can go to JPs end of month game a couple of hours beforehand, and as you are knocked out, you have a nice little tourny to enter later. If we don't readily agree , this simple idea could get complicated......rgds Willie

The Syndicates name is => The ANGLERS

    35 names are

Its gona be hard to organise a venue for this I reckon. How about playing it online? Would Mike be able to set up a Tournament for us on GJP?

Failing that Id Imagine we could use the Fitz on a Saturday afternoon?

No way are we going to get a day that all 35 are available so we have to all pay and if you cant play the tournament thats tough but your still in the syndicate.

I also think it would be a good idea to make it €150 buy in with the 50's only being paid by those who play the tournament and use it as a prizepool so we dont just have 1 prize which would be a bit sh*t!

    so for 30 runners........ €1500 (50*30)

    1st - plays Irish Open
    2nd - €750
    3rd - €400
    4th - €200
    5th - €150

I think it would make for a more Interesting day?
