I practically don't rest...my only rest time is the time it takes for me to change the weight or else when I'm forced to take a turn spotting for someone else.

What are the benefits of resting/not resting? It always kind of irks me when the person I'm spotting for gets on the bench and then spends the next 3-5 minutes just sitting there doing nothing while I'm waiting for them so I can do my next set... :\

If you can get through a whole workout without resting then your training for different goals to me. So if i piss you off by taken my rest times then quite simply, i don't care. :D

In all seriousness though doing heavy singles, double and triples of the big three ( squat , bench, deads ) will be incredible taxing if you operating very close to your 1RM! As such, your CNS can be pretty taxed and needs a few minutes to recover in between sets.

If you doing things more in the 10 to 12 rep range but still failing or coming close then anywhere from 45 seconds to 90 seconds would be standard.

Also, you should be be FORCED to spot someone, your just helping out a fellow gym goer.

I rest for 60 seconds between sets, which are in the 6-8 rep range. That's partly because of a time issue.
