Meetup Photofest Dublin 2007

26-02-2007 11:39pm#1Ok as Photofest draws near I just wanted to see who was planning on going as we could all meetup and storm the place. Sunday April 29th 10AM-6PM
They state this is a trade only event somewhere but don't fret about that
.
I would recommend getting there early to book the seminars as there has been a lot of publicity this year and It should book up quite fast.
Activity's

* New Irish companies introducing their services to the photographic industry. Meet with new photographic related industries based in Ireland.

I am defo there maybe with Leinsterman too (depends on how much we drink or what we end up doing the night before)
I have emailed Helen re some of the seminars but no reply as of yet & cant wait to see some of the goodies for sale.

anybody take some good notes during any of the seminars? Was out there briefly but didnt have time to catch any of the seminars..not looking for much, just a complete synopsis of everything that was covered + examples (and videos/audio if possible ) 0

It was a pretty good show ... though we were all a bit goggle eyed getting up at 8:30 on Sunday ... after a late one the night before ...
... and I was quite surprised to find Fajitas! and Rymus curled up on the same couch ...
As for the show highlights for me -
Getting a 1D Mk III in my paws ... looks nice but their demo guys are useless ... I'm still confused as to 1D v 5D ... but I placed an order with Albert for the 16-35 F2.8 MkII after seeing it on the 1D ... (along with the 70-200 F2.8 IS) ...
The photoshop seminars by Guy Gowan were very impressive ... I only wish I was less hung over and took notes ... he makes it all look very easy ... but Fajitas will be posting his sharpening technique ... anyone get his contrast technique (this was very impressive) ? ... I even got a quote to get him over for a private boards session ... but we would need numbers to make it of value ... I'll post but I doubt we will get enough demand ... a 1 day session costs €1,500 plus expenses ... but it would be extremely worthwhile! ... maybe we can go in with a photo society of something ... and I would want money up front via pay pal or something ...

tried it last night ... works great on my cheapo 19" LCD ... you get a set of cards to check it off and matched perfectly to the screen ...0 -

In our defense, it was a very large L shaped couch... No spooning of any shape or form occurred. 0 -
