Rotator cuff injuries are like the "in" thing atm-so long as you are doing them right and don't feel any pain then I wouldn't worry. Have a google or check out youtube even for a video to double check that your form is right.

Just a very over rated exercise especially when done in the smith machine (or any exercise in smith machine for that matter).

what can you dumbbell shoulder press?

I stopped doing upright rows aswell because they just feel terribly awkward. If you want to exercise those parts of your body, seated bent over lateral raises and pull ups will do so, without any risk of injury.

    I can shoulder dumbell press 30kg, 2 sets of 4 or 5
but I can only flat dumbell press 37.5kg, I seem to be weak at those

45-50k bells? What do you weigh?

yeah that's a pretty serious weight for shoulder dumbells, the only people I've seen doing that weight are lashed out of it on steroids and do shows etc.

Exactly my point - what the hell are you worried about doing upright rows if you COULD lift those kind of weights - 40-50kg bells in each hand???
