Last night about 9pm (8am Irish) there was earth quake of the coast of auckland.
It only measured 4.5, there was three in total but they were smallerl. I was sitting in a net cafe playing a few games and felt the ground rumble. Presumed it was one of the big ass trucks they have over here.

That was my near death experience :D

7!!! The size doesn't matter. It is the experience that counts.
Oh wait... that doesn't sound right

    That's nothing.
I had A.I.D.S. and survived to tell the tale*.

*The tale was a complete lie, but I did survive rabies.

I had to lie down and let him piss in my mouth.
Told me it was full of vitamins, he did.
    I was grand after that.

Apparently there was an earth tremor when I was on holidays in Antigua many years ago. Only my dad felt it. Everyone else was too busy horrifiedly* watching me projectile vomit as I'd gotten food poisoning. True story.

*That's not a word, but I needed it to be one for my story. It's late, and I can't think of adverbs.

Temporarily overseas in So Cal. I'm told that they have fault line movements everyday, and if you feel some of the smaller quakes, you often attribute them to other things, like a train or heavy truck rumbling by... They are still waiting for the Big One or one between 8 and 9.

    Nah.
    That was my uncle Hugh.
He was an awful liar though.

We've all survived earthquakes... Wasn't there a 2.8 quake just off the coast of Bray only last year?

    Ya...but... but....
Auckland has volcanoes. The place might explode. Lave could come up from the sewers. We might need Tommy Lee Jones or Pierce Brosnan to come in and save us.

Good. We could use the excitement. Any chance of what they had in Bray?

As a matter of convenience could you perhaps in future only tell us all about the earthquakes that you haven't survived through.

I live in Tokyo and you get them here fairly regularly. I hate them - Tokyo is well overdue a big one so when I feel one I keep expecting it to escalate ........
I'm moving back to Europe soon, and they're one thing I won't miss, although knowing my luck the "big one" will hit in the 4 weeks before I leave !!
