SCAR Sharpshooter

My stuff arrived from eHobby today. The 8 M4 mid-caps (100 rounds each) and the illuminated 4X scope. The Mags fit the SCAR perfectly, they go in smother then the high-cap you get with it. They feed like a dream, unloaded 90 rounds (need to work the springs in before I load 100) with not one feed error from the 2 mags I tried, they discharge every single BB. All 8 mags fit perfectly in the 4 pouches on my Tac vest :)

The illuminated scope is sweet, it has 12 illumination settings from off through 11 levels of intensity. Rear twist focus, fore twist range finding and elevation and windage rotary dials, they just twist so you don't need a screwdriver, they also have screw on caps so they don't get knocked off during use. I mounted the scope with the raised brackets I ordered with it, I can still use the guns iron sights :D

    Piccy time.

Hey man thats looking really nice, are you going to bring it out over the weekend?

Very nice Fiach, downscope looks awesome.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yep I'll be bringing it if we are going this Saturday. A silencer would look good alright but the JLS SCAR has a positive thread on the barrel for some reason so I'd have to get an adaptor  Besides it's only a stopgap untill CA get their SCAR out then I'm picking that up :)

I think ill order this for my first gun :)

If you're thinking of getting the JLS SCAR as your first gun bear in mind I had to pull mine apart to get it working and it hasn't even been schirmished yet. Keith at rsov told me I'm not the first to have had the problem with it. I had to pull the motor and reseat the wiring. It's also one of the most expensive clones right now. I can live with these problems because I have a TM backup if anything goes wrong with it.

    Master of the Universe

Wow! That's some serious eye candy. Cant wait to get a closer look.

Something I forgot to mention. After I set the scope after plinking a paper target I switched to full auto and put a 40 round burst into the centre of the target. All 40 shots hit within a 1.5 inch cone!

    Here come the pain :D

Oh was not aware of this :( is it hard to do? im very good with wiring and sorts lol

It's not too hard, it is fiddly though. When you open the grip plate to take out the motor a little metal cap falls off the rear of the motor housing, you wouldn't want to lose it. The motor drive cog comes free from the armature and a lower mount with a spring also comes out. The whole issue just fell to pieces when I pulled the motor. The pos and neg wires are connected to the motor with copper slip ons. Getting these on is a bitch but that's only half the trouble. You have to seat the wires in such a way that they dont push against the motors rear, otherwise the grip plate will push the drive cog too far into the mechbox and all you get is a teeth jarring crunch when you pull the trigger. If the motor is to far out of the mechbox the drive cog will spin free and you'll hear a high pitched whine, you'll get no compression in the piston and the gun won't fire.

I was gonna order tonight sounds like alot of work for an airsoft newbie... i think ill just wait till my first gun breaks and then open it up and examine the works... then maybe go for the SCAR or wait for the CA

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yeah you're better off waiting for the CA. The problem with JLS is their quality control is rotten, nowhere near as good as Jing Gong or CYMA. You could get a SCAR that's fine or you could get a lemon. The risk is just too high for a first gun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Did you get yours from rsov? i dont know whether to buy from gunners or rsov..i think ill just get an mp5

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Buy whatever you're getting from rsov. Keith is really fast with orders and he's a really sound bloke :)

Edited for grotesque grammer error :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

The thing about CA's SCAR is that it will be in tan, I have not seen it in black or OD green. Even the mag is tan like the real thing.

I'm sure someone will have boddy kit mods for it shortly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

I'll probably pick up black krylon and give it a new skin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Does he do deals? say like if im ordering 3 guns..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Send him an e-mail and ask him. As I said he's a really sound bloke and if he can reduce the price in any way I'm sure he will. You don't need to place the order on his website either, you can just tell him what you want in an email. He only has some stuff up on the site but if it's from China he can get it for you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,021 ✭✭✭Hivemind187

That is a seriously sexy sight. I admit that I find the SCAR ugly enough to live up to its name but you managed to make it worth a second look.

Guess we know who the designated marksman on your team is then lol.

The SCAR grows on you. I wasn't too sure about it myself at first but I'm really starting to love it. And the fact that it's esentially an FN-C in many ways is a bonus for me :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

Ok kool well im going to be ordering 2 glock 18c's , ak47 tactical and Jing Gong M733

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Good choices. I hear the AK tactical is a great performer and has a better metal front-end then the older 028 :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

OMG i have to say i just emailed him and he emailed me back within 5 minutes... and said he will give me a 5% discount... i will be defo ordering these guns in the morning as i have to buy a 3v voucher :)

Keith's the man of the hour alright. If he keeps up this level of cutomer service he's going to take a lot of buisness from Gunners. Many people are already doing buisness with him instead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Irishpimpdude

I always hated the M16, it looks like a watergun, and the real M16 is a piece of junk. When it was first produced it was called the self cleaning gun and was only supposed to need minor maintenance, but it turned out the mechanism was so poorly designed it needed more maintenance than any other assault rifle. :(

Well it was the wrong propellant that caused most of the 16`s problems, that along with a chromed barell solved most of the problems. Its now considered one of the most reliable rifles in the world.

Nothing will ever come close to the reliability of the AK's though :)

Yea best rifle in the world... may not be the best looking but tis the best...

Thats a nice looking SCAR. Do the guns that RSOV sends to Ireland have the red tip or is that just for the US market? i'm seriously thinking of getting a few cheap AEGs rather than getting full metal guns.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 747 ✭✭✭EyesOnly

on my G36C it was just a cap = removable, Must of the Guns sent here don't have the red apart from some that i've seen shipped from the US of A

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,314 ✭✭✭Fiach Dubh

Yeah as Realeyes says, you'll only get red tips if you order from the U.S. I always get my guns from China.

The G36 is more or as reliable as an AK. HK have one of their G36Ks at the test factory for years now. It has fired over 30,000 rounds without any stopages or failures of any part of the weapon and it has never been taken apart for cleaning of any kind.
