How to play Hi8 tape

All - I have a camcorder Hi8 tape I want to play. But my old camcorder has died. what the chepest way for me to do this? get hold of an old 8mm camcorder?? I know the adaptors dont work. Is 8mm the same as Hi8??

Try a local electrical shop, see if they have ways of transferring the tape to VHS or DVD.
