I tried occupying myself when I get cravings but I drive myself so crazy about having it... i just give in... I know its essentially down to me and I have done it before.. I just cant get it togther.. If my diet was good.. Id have lost the 8kg I need to loose... (5'5.5 and about 69-70kg). Any one else have this prob(please no just get over it ans.. i seriously torture myself)

forget will power. just dont let yourself be put in a position of temptation. only buy exactly the food you need for each day. dont go to party's with free food etc etc.
and dont think about losing weight, just think about eating healthy and in the right amounts. if you're calc's are right you'll lose weight and get healthier

Don't beat yourself up about it. I pigged myself out with an indian and ice cream tonight, but I won't do it tomorrow, or the day after and so on, until next time my Will Power crashes, but someone made a great point here before: your body will tell the tale of a healthy diet, not the minor infringements in between (they put it better than that tho). So next time you eat half a tub of ice cream, don't feel you have to wait til next monday to start again. Enjoy it, move on, and do 20 pushups when u get out of bed the next morning - it'll put you in a good healthy frame of mind.
One other thing, even small changes for the good, are changes for the good. If you decide to eat a packet of crisps, have a bowl of porridge for breakfast the next day instead of the usual. So you've improved something. Then keep making improvements, gradually over time you'll see u have a very good diet (with the odd indian thrown in ;) )

    Hey Mazroo,
A trick I used when I was body building to keep me on the straight and narrow, was to have a picture of my fave bodybuilder on the wall in my kitchen. Usually near (if not on) the fridge. When looking at Dexter Jackson's physique, it gets much easier to skip those unhealthy snacks.
Also, like Davy says, don't spend time obsessing over past mistakes. The're in the past. Just harden your resolve and get stuck in harder tomorrow.

How about when you get a major craving for something you don't want to be eating for diet reasons drink as much of a litre of water as you can in one go and that should cease the craving for some time.

OP, I will say it's as simple as a single question.

"How much do you want it?"

Agreed. I've had my diet dialled in right for almost 2 years now, and I don't think my will-power really has that much to do with it, at least not nearly as much as preparedness.

When you're bored around the house you go for quick snacky foods, usually high in sugar and/or saturated fat because they're the tastiest things right? Trust me, you're far less likely to boredom eat or snack if you have to spend time preparing the food first & if it's not high in sugar and/or saturated fat (i.e. them healthy foods we bang on about).

Also, if you tend to eat alot in a particular place (like your house) then try to take up various things to keep yourself out of the house as much as possible.

Also, drinking teas (no sugar or milk) is a great no-calorie way to spend your time between meals. Green tea is great for keeping you energised too when you're eating below maintenance.

Dragan. Your right.. How bad do I want it.. ANS.. I do... but at the time i want some high fat food so badly that Id sell out..lol..

Good tip on the not having it in the house... I just emptied my fridge last night n just have fruit and veg in it.. Eating my food at work(prepared or get it on the way in.. I work shifts so I have dinner there the majority of times)

So nooow ..im tryin to NOT go to the shops when im at home.. I guess once I get used t not having it... I wont want it...

Thanks for all the ideas again...

Never enter the supermarket on an empty stomach.

Don't focus on your weight - what happens when you lose the 8kgs? Is it then time to relax or stop? Just be more moderate and enjoy your food and life!

Get a clear mental picture in your mind of how you want to look and feel and tell your self as often as you remember how much better you are as a result of taking one step towards your goal every day.

People never lack 'will power' most lack focus and dedication.

Focus completely on why and how you are going to be in the best shape of your life and then accept no excuses. Hold a higher standard for yourself than others hold for you.

    That's bang on.
Also, try to shop in bulk, a weeks worth of food at a time, if you can.
It's much easier to stick to a plan this way, and the less you're putting yourself in the way of temptation, the better.
