    Hey

I guess a bit of background first. I'm a 24 year old male who is very unfit. I was physically active until about 16 and then I discovered booze and girls and well it pretty much went out the window. I was overweight as a kid but was delighted when by the age of around 18 i seemed to have grown into my body so to speak.

I've been out partying for the past 4 months or so. I recently moved to Spain and arnt working at the moment so going to a club on wednesday night until 6am isint unusual. Anyway with all this high life business I've noticed that im developing a bit of a beer belly when I used to be very happy with what I saw in the mirror Im not so happy now. I'm far from being overweight but I want get this early so the job is easier to get back to my prefered size.

To put it bluntly im the model of a unfit person. I smoke about 20 camel lights a day along with taking pretty much no exercise other than walking to the pub.

Average day would go like this consumption wise.

Breakfast would be a smoke and a mug of very strong coffee with sometimes a cereal of the unhealthy kind I dont think the brand is in IReland but I would suspect its frosties like in crap content. Both with full fat milk.

Lunch (*if i have it*) will be a roll with some cured ham and cherry tomatoes with butter another cup of coffee and possibly a piece of fruit.

When I cook I cook from fresh usually things like spag-bol or something else italian. I think that all the pasta might be something to avoid??

Throw in another cup of coffee a bottle or two of beer and maybe a joint. Or if im going out probbably at least 6 bottles of beer.

I want to feel generally more healthy but I have no interest in running a marathon.

Thanks for sticking with me on this monster of a post! I dont want to join a gym and my spanish is good but still not fluent so that rules out team sports. I was woundering if I was for example to take a brisk walk for a hour or so everyday along with overhawling my eating habits and cutting down on the booze would that shift a bit of this weight or would I have to do something more drastic.

Thats some ramble so I'll sum it up

    1. Is a hours brisk walk everyday a good starting point.

    2. Suggestions on types of food to help the weightloss (well i suppose its size loss really!) Im pretty dumb when it comes to things like protein and carbohydrate

Well i'm no fitness expert, but isn't pasta a healthy food, so i wouldn't rule that out straight away.
I think you shouldn't give up on the team sports either. Firstly it is an avenue for enjoyable exercise, and secondly you will get better at spanish by mingling with the locals.. hell why go to a foreign country, if you are going to keep to yourself, and not try to be part of the local population..?

Im far from keeping to myself mate. I have a spanish girlfriend and all spanish mates. Being too sociable is kinda the problem :)

Im not too big on sports and to be honest and I think i need to walk before I run.

It was on the food front that I remember hearing a lot of stuff about trying to cut all carbohydrates out of your diet to assist weight loss.

I love how you picked on the pasta, surrounded by everything else. :D Spag-Bol, if you keep portion size in check isn't that bad a meal - everything else there pretty much is. My advice is to read the stickies there mate. And transform has posted a great beginners work-out today.
I know you say you're not big on exercise, but really you don't know til you ry it. Exercise can make you feel absolutely awesome, and it's pretty important too - so it really is your choice.
