:D Will be stuck with friends 7 year old daughter for two days during the mid-term break, has any body any ideas what i can do to keep her occupied? perferable activities which will not injure her i.e. was going to bring her horse riding but was worried about the whole friendship implications if she fell off and broke her neck

    dont be stupid.

Perhaps a pony instead of a horse? Or a jigsaw with big pieces that she won't swallow?:D 7 year olds are fairly independent and unlikely to have developed Thanatos imo, you should be fine if you don't do anything reckless, ie something that would make you worry about your own safety.

    A game of tiddley-winks, perhaps? :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,190 ✭✭✭✭seamus

If you're worried about her getting injured, just clear it with the parents first; "Would it be OK if I took her horse riding?". "Yeah, sure. She'd love that.".

    Presto. Liability absolved.

Just ask her what she wants to do?
    Or her mum for suggestions?
    Zoo, the park, the pub...

    Look

    Television. You can't lose.
Failing that, a trip to the zoo or cinema and a mcdonalds should keep the little brat happy.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 10,661 ✭✭✭✭John Mason

her parents would be cool with me taking her riding but i am sure they wouldnt be too happy if i brought her back all squashed up!! they werent too happy the day i lost her in the aquatic centre

hmmm my garden needs weeding and she wants to be an Archaeologist so i might just tell her there are Dinosaur bones in the garden and let her dig for a few days

What if the Fair City omnibus comes on and induces the poor wee kid into a deep dark coma from which she may never pull herself out of. Dangerous tactics there Terry.

By the way welcome to boards buddy. Everyones sound around here, apart from Julep and Sarky who can be spanners sometimes. Just ignore them Tel and all will be well.

Pighead, are you welcoming me to boards? after the stuff you said to me in the insult thread???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,729 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Best thread title ever.........then this :(

Tommy Tiernan had it right though: Grab the lil' bastard by the legs and swing their head against the wall.

Then you come out of your drunken reverie and notice a pile of semi-concious children.......

Give the child a Wii; do finger painting; or go with the Tiernan Method.

If you have a games console video games will keep a kid occupied for a few hours, get two controllers and let her win all the time and she'll be chuffed. Oh an hire a few Disney DVD's, cartoons etc will keep them occupied for a good while too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,160 ✭✭✭TheNog

Bring her horse riding. If she falls and breaks her neck, then thats her fault.

When ur friends come to pick her up, just say "what kid?"

Did you see this weeks Veronica Mars too?

Pighead, thanks. I was told to look out for your antics, but you seem like a nice enough guy.

Regardless of where I live buddy is of no relevance to your pedophilia comment about teaching a 7 year old girl on how to have oral sex. That's disgusting. If you can't see that well you have huge problems and could be a danger to society.

I feel its very racist of you to mention that I am from Crumlin. You are correct, but there are many a good people who came from Crumlin and live in Crumlin, and I am one of them.

You should be ashamed of your self for firstly making such a sexual comment with regards a 7 YEAR OLD GIRL let alone making a derogatory comment about when I am from.

I am surprised the Mods did not come after you, ah sure you are a mod, one rule for you another for everyone else.

Man you are bang out of order with both comments on the girl and where I am from.

Kinda get the impression you're not exactly thrilled about this!

Firstly, allow her to invite a friend from home/school along to whatever you plan as she'll have someone her own age to play with and it lessens the likelihood of you being called on to play with her.

if you want to do something aside from TV/playing computer games you could bring her to one of those activity play centres that children go to for birthday parties or to a leisure centre for the afternoon where they have play activities. You could also bring her to the cinema and somewhere nice as a treat afterwards, bring her to a children's playground, the zoo...if the child's Mom has no problem with her going horseriding then go for it!

If he is to be treated just the same as anybody else on here then i presume he is now banned for this forum(if not site). Just like anybody else who would suggest oral sex would be a good way to keep a 7 year old girl entertained.

op, maybe it would b a good idea to start this thread in parenting as the people there should have some good ideas and experience, also you won't get trolls adn idiots answering your thread!

    that hurts lois

    that hurts

    - edit

and hey, it may be morally reprehensible, it may scar the child for life, it may even land the OP in jail should the parents ever find out.. but it WOULD keep the child occupied without killing her for a short while at least.

It is a valid answer to the question.

Once you devote your time to the child I'd say she'll be fine, maybe the park or the cinema, shopping...

Is trolling aginst the AH charter, I don't remember seeing it mentioned?

maybe, but thats my problem, not yours.

but then again, ive seen you indulge in similar trolling behaviour, and i havent banned you yet, so which is it to be.

i agree the original post was not on. i edited it, and the poster warned. anything after that has been stupidness, and i dont tend to ban people for being stupid. if i did, there would be very few people in this forum. and id have to ban myself as well.

time to move on to a regulatory body that does take this type of thing very seriously.

    thats your perogative.

you havent come back to me with anything other than the original post that i removed as soon as i saw it, so i am unsure what a regulatroy body will say.

however, i would ask you to post on the feedback forum, and engage the administraion of this site and put forward your point and your reason for your behaviour.
i will note this exchange to the admins, and i would ask that if you go ahead with litigation of some description, that your account be suspended, as per boards.ie proceedure.

i would not expect you to post again anyway, considering your actions, with the exception of the feedback forum.

You would of been better off posting this in the Parenting forum. Would of meant less infantile replies.

Nice spin off thread going at the mo.

O/p, don't know where you live, I suggest taking the kid to an activity centre like the one in the Omni Centre in Santry (there are others) and just let the kid have fun.

I have to doubt the seriousness of the topic in all honesty. It would be far harder to think up activities that are likely to kill a seven year old.

If you are nervous about looking after the child why not sit down with the child's parents and simply tell them you're nervous about it, and maybe there are other members of the family who can help you out. At seven the child will know what he/she wants anyway, believe it.
