    hi all,

i'm currently currently splitting my excerises

    i.e day 1 back biceps

    day 2 rest

    day3 chest tirceps

    day4 rest

    day 5 shoulers legs

day 6 rest day 7 rest

i do abs on the rest days with my cardio

i've been doing this for 3 months now, would i be better off doing an all over workout 3 days

the way i do it is 4 excersise with 3 sets of 8-12 per, so 8 different excerisises in total per day

i'm not too interested or dedicated to it to get too complicated but just need to know for a basic routine, is spiltting em better or all together

    thanks

ye if you are only doing 3 days a week I would generally go with a full body workout,

Personally I believe a split routine should be utilised to concentrate on one or two particular area's of weakness, but if you are started or have no real discernable strenghts of weaknesses then a Total Body Routine may serve your purposes a bit better.

    Do full body workouts.

Try antagonistic sets. ie. work biceps then triceps. alternating between sets. or chest then back. Abs then lower back. You follow?

There's a huge debate over whether TBT (total body training) or split training is better. Having done both, I see pro's and cons to each. If I'm lifting for general well-being, to encourage all-over strength I think TBT is the way to go. You see good gains quickly and because each body part is being hit a little a lot you can use it for some pretty impressive body conditioning. Split training favours those who may have specific weaknesses they need to address to allow them to rehab areas they feel are lagging or holding them back. If you're a particulalry heavy lifter a split is often necessary to allow the individual body parts to recuperate properly, but if you're jsut starting out that's probably not necessary.

There's a pretty decent TBT workout here if you want to get some ideas:
