I thought maybe we should have a thread dedicated to gear. No AEG talk here, just camo, vests, pouches, boots, helmets, gloves etc. Talk about your loadout weither it's based on a specific military unit or just random gear that you like.

I'm currently putting together a United States Marine Corps loadout. I only have the Desert and Woodland MARPAT and a pair of boots at the moment. The MARPAT is official issue stuff, not replica. I want to get the TAG Spartan 2 vest but their online store isnt available yet.

I've also decided to do a GRAW loadout. I've ordered some Multicam from this site. It looks like good stuff and I cant wait to get it. http://www.afmo.com/MultiCam_TRU_Uniform_Set_p/201-00157.htm
I've just preordered this Multicam vest with pouches.http://hssgear.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_1&products_id=155

Anyway, here are 2 pics of me wearing my MARPAT.

Where did you get the MARPAT from and how much was shipping/taxes etc?
Any link for the Spartan 2? Can't seem to find it on any websites.

    I've currently got:
    Danish M84 camo
    Britsh DPM (Woodland)
    ACU

Though I want to get myself some MARPAT instead of the ACU (I'm bored of DPMs and ACUs are ALWAYS considered "OpFor" because of the colouring).

Other than that I have a Blackhawk Industries "Recon" Vest with backplate carrier, pouches and Hydration system, SERPA CQB Holster and dropleg extender.

Going to be buying a pair of Oakley SI boots to replace my current ones and a pair of Hatch Operator CQB gloves.

Here is the link to the Spartan 2. Their online store isnt up yet.
    http://www.tacticalapplicationsgroup.com/

Here is a link to the seller on eBay where I got the MARPAT.
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/nee-cees-military-surplus-and-more_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm

What's the SERPA CQB holster like? I have a holster for my M9A1 but I'm thinking about getting another one. Maybe a Safariland 6004 but they are expensive.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 311 ✭✭NakedHedgehog

I like the SERPA a lot. It's more flexible than the Safariland as well (which was the other option I was looking at).
You can get the STRIKE CQC Platform as well, so you can mount it onto MOLLE vests.

It holds the sidearm in very firmly and the release is very smooth. It all feels very natural. Plus you can adjust the angle of the holster to suit your needs/feel.

I'd definitely recommend it. As I said, it's more versatile than the Safariland as well- say if you went to some event where you're wearing plainclothes - you can simply attach the SEPRA to a belt rather than your leg extender.

I got it from optactical (www.optactical.com) - excellent, friendly and fast retailers.

You should see a doctor about that large square black growth on you face. It could be serious.

For the combat gear, I'm missing a few things. I need a Tactical Vest, some knee pads, proper gloves and maybe a shemagh since my neck is a magnet for bb's.

I'm not going for any particular style. Besides, I wouldn't know an Iraqi uniform from a US uniform.

What I hate about buying the clothing is that for most of it, you can't walk into a shop and try it on. It's mostly bought online. Only shop I've seen locally is Army Bargains, but their stuff is designed around camping oddly enough.

You can buy everything in Army Bargins. That's where I bought my boots, DPM trousers, shemagh and was nearly going to buy a jacket but found one on ebay for a tenner. Plus they sell all manner of boonies and helmets. Hydration systems. Everything you could possibly need. Only thing you really need to use the net to get is a decent tactical vest.

Oooh found a picture of myself on ASI.

I'm the one in the sexy boonie in the middle background ;) Talking to Harekin while Stalfos tried to figure out which end the bbs came out of :D
That gear did me fine. Three mag pouches on a vest seems more then enough.

Did someone (Fiach maybe) say on Saturday that if you say you play airsoft, that you get a discount in Army Bargains?

@nhedge : Where did you get the holster from?

@o1s1n : what vest is that? does it have a hydration system or something to hold a bottle of water?, Forgot to ask the other day :/

EDIT : Where is army bargains? far from train station?

This is the one. Excellent for the price. Some of the MOLLE gear the lads were wearing seemed a little too complicated. All I really need is somewhere to put mags. that'll take 4 m16/famas style mags, 2 long glock/mac 11 type mags...has a good few extra pockets.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/SAS-SDU-LEVEL-3-Tactical-Assault-Hunting-Vest-VT-14-BK_W0QQitemZ270085555510QQihZ017QQcategoryZ137007QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Nowhere to put water no. A camelback would probably be worth getting.
The only annoying thing about it was that padded area at the back of the neck interfered with the back rim of my hat when I was crawling. Might get rid of it.

    Me!

When I bought stuff there, I explained it was for airsoft. Got chatting for a while and the owner gave me a discount. She said the same would apply to anyone else who mentions they are part of the airsoft in ireland scene.

I bought 100 euro worth of gear but she gave it to me for 90. So that's either a 10% discount, or 10 euro off. Can't recall exactly which.

EDIT : Where is army bargains? far from train station?

From O'Connell street, head down Mary's street. Continue on and you end up on Little Mary's street. It's there and just across from Millets. Can't miss it really.

It's not far from Connolly station or Tara St station.

Just found a great site with some cool combat gear:

    http://www.airsoftscotland.com/

Gonna pick up a vest from there, but the one I want is out of stock atm.
    http://www.airsoftscotland.com/acatalog/Tactical_clothing.html

They also seem to be quite good for bb's. 5000 for £5.99 + no added shippig cost if you buy in bulk.

It's good of them to offer a discount alright. It's also a smart move. Army surplus sales have dropped off in Dublin over the last 10 years. Scottsmans Hut closed down, Millets have gone more camping then anything else. If Army Bargains can tap into the Airsoft scene it'll be good for them and us. They may even start taking request on what gear they get in stock.

Fully adjustable...will hold just about anything including very long barrelled pistols or pistols with silencers attached.

Other colours available here : http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct.asp?subcatid=162 (about 40% down the page)

I was in Army Bargains last monday week and they gave me a discount and i hadn't mentioned airsoft at all. they just give a discount if you buy enough. plus i'm ashamed to say i bought a holster there for €60 and found it online since for €30 delivered to your door, so shop around, dont expect any (Army) "BARGAINS". However if you like being followed around by the staff like your about to steal something its the perfect shop, it was very awkward.

That said they look like they'll have anything you want, i got boots there too, which worked great at predator.

€60 for a holster?! is it made of platinum?!

I remember I nearly fell over when they told me the prices of their holsters actually. I grumbled something and proceeded to walk out of the shop.

No quick way to get it?

Army Bargains used to sell scrim many years ago. I've no idea if they still do or how much they'd charge though.

This is me in the gear I got from EHobby. I didnt think the multicam would fit me according to EHobby sizing but it is actualy a bit big which might be a good thing anyway. Same vest as Oisin's. Also have a bonnie and a balaclave.

You made me so concise of it I went and cloned it out. Here is the new one.:D

That looks more like MARPAT than Multicam.
Marpat on top, Multicam on the bottom. They are completely different camo patterns.

Multicam isn't digital. The one he's wearing in the photo appears to be digital. So that rules that out. Sure ehobby haven't been stocking any multicam knock offs now since they had their site shut down for doing so.

...or, maybe Multicam is so good that it can camouflage itself as other patterns.

Now that might make it worth the asking price.

Yeah, one of the reasons I wasn't going to go with MARPAT. Changed my mind though - I'll just add those myself :). Got a set of woodland on the way and I'm just waiting for Crye to do their production run (they said March 2007) before I get myself a full set of Multicam, too.

im waiting to get multicam too.
I put velcro on the pocket on the arm. took AGES coz i didnt have any of that wounder web stuff.

Can be seen in this picture with my patch on it:

    ACU
    Multicam
    Urban
    Woodland
    Desert (tri colour)

i had the Marpat stuff but i didnt like it so i flogged it.

do you know where you can get M84(danish) camo trousers?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 311 ✭✭NakedHedgehog

You can get M84 from www.flecktarn.co.uk. Or if you're of a larger size, you can get replica stuff also from www.rangershop.de - (site IS in german though - search for Dansktarn).

I have a set of it myself. It's nice stuff.
