A photo of Carlow town's snow, taken just before 2am this morning.
The quality's not the best, it was snowing heavier than the first photo lets on.

Great stuff Longfield and Arctictree. Fantastic photos for us rain dwellers to chew on( and grumble about, those jammy bastards up the country.. grr) Hopefully it will stay cold enough for ye to get a few snaps of the snow, if it clears up a bit.

I have to say, i had forgotten how much snow we are actually capable of receiving here in Ireland (in the right conditions of course). The last few times it has 'snowed' here, that i can remember, it was more akin to Croppyboys two greeny shots..

Killeshin Hills, taken from the car as my Dad was driving. That's why the quality isn't great. It was taken at around 5pm this evening - plenty of snow across the Laois border as seen here and on top of Mount Leinster.

Drove up to Sally Gap today. won't be doing that again in a hurry - car sledged much the way down

Took the road from Roundwood to Sallygap wich was passable if driving carefully, then made the wrong decision and took the turnoff at the top to descend via Enniskerry.

Road was absolutely lethal, took it in first gear for most parts only passed one 4x4 guy going upwards and met about 4 cars deciding that they were not going to make it up and turning back (and one stuck French driver)- I certainly wouldnt have made it to the top driving upwards .

Scary but exciting drive to say the least..

Heres a couple of snaps taken near the highest point of the drive.

I will not be doing that again unless its in a 4x4 with a sleeping bag and a few days rations in the boot.

Beautiful view, picture doesnt come close to haw amazing this looks

    sallygapa.jpg

View to the south - little did I know the road got far far worse this way!

    Great pics Longfield
Yeh, we tried it yesterday in our ford galaxy:o . We were going uphill and we made it pretty close to where you took those pics but as you said the road conditions really detoriated the main problem was finding somewhere to turn with all the other 4x4's coming down. I think six passed going down forcing us into the ditch quite a few times:( . But anyway we got turned around near where you took those photos and made it back. It was certainly scary though and the fog was down aswell yesterday and it was nearly dark(around 18:30).

In the spirit if the current discussions! Here are some pictures taken the morning after the 'big snow' of February 8th 2007! These were shot at 8am. Temps had gone below freezing overnight and the previous evenings thaw had turned to icicles.

My lonely weather station in all the snow:

    snowfeb9th2007006.jpg

Still lots of snow in the forest:

    snowfeb9th2007004.jpg

We need to make our gutters strong here in Roundwood! Its hard to see in the pic but there are lots of icicles hanging off my roof and that is a lot of snow about to drop:

Linkies to this morning's snow. The first one is good as it get across the sheer volume of snow and the windspeed.

The second one is some collected snow outside.

Impressive snow sticking there. It's sticking to the roads as much as the grass. I'll upload some more tomorrow of the scenery here:)

Not much more than we had last night before I went to bed. But there are a few promising clouds in the sky!

Hello everyone, some more photos of the Paddy's weekend snow. All these were taken on Monday morning.

This is the same patch of ground as in the photograph of the branch and grass I linked earlier, except with snow:)
    http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u123/desperate_days/HPIM0273.jpg

This one's an eerie photo of the 9 AM sun over a nearby hill:
    http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u123/desperate_days/DoDeDooDoo.jpg

This one was the last picture I took before heading back, as the snow was becoming very heavy. It's taken in the direction of the Boyne Cable Bridge in a field near the house, though naturally the bridge is obscured:
    http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u123/desperate_days/Lone.jpg

I like this one, though it's not of anything in particular. Taken at the top of the hill, you can make out some snow powder being blown by the strong gusts at the top.
    http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u123/desperate_days/UpontheHill.jpg

Let me know what you all think. I froze my ass off for some of those:p
