    Hey all,

Just wondering has anyone any experience of the lateral thigh trainer considering gettting one simply because I havent time to exercise lately and by the time i get in from work its too late n too dark to go walking.

So i thought i would get one of these to tone up my thighs again, hopefully in a few months when things quiten down with work i can get to the gym but for now I just need something to burn some calories.

Any one used these machines are they any good I dont want to fork out for one if they're crap :D Thanks

Poppy, if you want to tone up your thighs then it's likely you need to drop bodyfat mostly, you don't neccessarily need to keep working out your thigh muscles (unless of course you want bigger thighs?).

So basically it comes down to burning calories & almost anything will help you to do that. A skipping rope for example. RRP: EUR4.99

If you really want to fork out for an exercise machine I'd go with a treadmill, cross-trainer, stationary bike or rower or something like that. If you get a rower make sure you get shown how to use it properly - all the others are pretty intuitive.

my problem with any bigger exercise machines is that i live in an apartment and it isnt practical space wise to get one.

I just heard about these from a friend of mine, aparently it comes with a work out vid to tone other areas of ur body as well

A set of dumb-bells will "tone" your muscles far more than a stepper, and it doesnt take up much space. I am presuming you are female by your name and the fact you want to "tone". You should lift as heavy a weight as you can, a 20kg argos cast iron set would suit most women, don't bother with the pink weight sets aimed at women, it is cheaper to get a few cans of beer or tins of beans to lift, they are useless for what most women are after. And you will not become too muscley if you are worried about that. It will boost your metabolism greatly so you will loose fat yet maintain the same muscle you already have.

Why not get an exercise DVD?

I'd recommend Charlie Brooks Before and After DVD. Using that and watching what I ate I lost 19pounds last year and have managed to keep most of it off. You don't need any equipment and not an awful lot of room to do it.

    [edit]
I should have added. I am in no ways fit so the above DVD challenges me but if you are fit the Neil McAndrews DVD's are meant to be good (according to amazon reviews). I don't have this DVD though so can't say what you'd need for it.
    [/edit]

    Just a thought,
    A.

The LTT actually works great for burning fat. Following the video that comes with it equates to about 25 minutes a day, plus you can change things around when you get bored with the video. Just ignore the advertising about "targeting" the thighs. It will burn off fat, the same way any other fat burning exercise does, usually the last place to put it on will be the first place to lose it. It will tone, but it will not increase muscle size on its own.

But the guy on the TV using it was really muscley, it must be true! ;)

Many peoples idea of "toned" is in fact an increase in muscle size, coupled with fat loss. If you go on a calorie deficit you risk loosing muscle mass along with fat, most naturally skinny people I know would not be considered "toned" since they have such low muscle mass (but it is not due to extreme weight loss, they were never heavy). I thought the mods were going to get the word "tone" asterisked out...

If you are up that late that you see these crappy infomercials you could probably do with a good increase in sleep too :D
