So any updates on this? How many runners were there in the end?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭Mr. Flibble

Grrr. I'm out. Had about 25k with 800 blinds and 100 antes. Raise up to 2.5k with eights in MP and BB calls. Flop is KKK, BB pushed for 12k with AT and I call. He hits 7 outer and I coin flip off my last 10K or so a few hands later.

I think there were 270 runners in the end tribulus, not certain tho.

    Okay boards casualties so far:

    Mr Flibble, Slash/ED

    Fobster still in at ~27K

Anyone else want to add to this...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,163 ✭✭✭Slash/ED

    Well...

I'd ace-jack suited. Raise 4x big blinds. One caller. Flop comes Ace Queen Jack rainbow. I bet, re-raised all in instantly. I call it, and he flips over King King. Rivers a f*cking ten. Didn't knock me out but in the three or so levels after it I survived I never got a chance to get off short stack, just stole enough to remain static really. Eventually had to shove with ace ten suited called by the second worst hand I can run into, pocket tens, and the ten on the river just adds insult to injury. Bah!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,857 ✭✭✭Atlas_IRL

had a4 with it was 400/800 with 100 antes went to rob the blinds 2 callers

flop was a46 i think i bet small looking like a steal and he calls. turn 10 i knew he had a with a highish kicker so bet 6k too see where i stand got reraised all in for a 50-60k pot, had to call... minging! would have had a huge stack to steal with.

    Very good tourny though.

ran into two sets very early on folding an overpair and tptk on each occasions. The amount of donkeys on my first table was sick. I watched some guy stack himself with AA when he ran into an obvious set. I couldnt hit a fcuking thing though. I got blinded down to around 3k before pushing with 88 at 100/200 25ante, AA saw me out before the break. I never went above the starting stack. bah im very disappointed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,882 ✭✭✭Doc Farrell

wasn't paying attention when you left the table on paddy power the other night rnger.meant to say good luck. guess you can keep the luck for the next time. ;)
you played well, stay away from my tables!

Messed up a flopped full house early on, overbet the river scared him off.

200/400 c. 10k Limped in MP with KJ, flop 7K4. Rock BB bets 800, i call, checks to me on the turn, i fire out 1200, he calls. River K, he checks, i bet 3k, he re-raises all in, about 5k more. I fold showing a K, he shows K7 for a house.

Not used to such a deep stack so started feeling shortstacked, folded everything, picked up aces same guy had KK, someone else raises 2 callers, KK reraises, two fold, i call near trippled up.

Won most of my pots without showdown, but for some reason i stopped taking stabs at pots and got whittled down, pushed with AJ, TT calls, im out.

Really good tourney, great fun, hope runs happens again.

How many days is this tournament and when does day 1 finish? Anychance of getting a leader board and their respective colleges.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 425 ✭✭StephenInsane

    Also, 270 entrants? That's surely a dissapointment?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,450 ✭✭✭Gholimoli

    fock tournys.
i get it all in pre-flop for a 80Kpot when the avarage is maybe about 30K+
with JJ against the bigest donk ive seen with his KJ and lose it.
    the hand went like this:
    blinds 500/1K with 100 ante:
i raise UTG to 4K with JJ and this dude two to my left goes all in for 40K.
folded back to me and i think for 5 seconds to see if its possible for me to be behind and then make the call .
he shoes KJ soooooted and gets a K on the river.
he was on 20K the very before this and raises on the button to 4K.
the tighest player on the table calls him.
    flop comes 6h 6s 3h .
tighty checks and you man bets 12K in to 8K pot.
tighty goes all in for another 6K and he calls with Kd 7h.
    turn 9h
river Th and he wins with a flush.
    tighty had AA.
    fock tournys.

got it in with K9 vs AJ no good.

Had a maths lapse and i thought i had was offering <2/1 on a push.

    meh

great tourney all the same, fair play stephen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,080 ✭✭✭HiCloy

Got AK twice. First time i ran into AA. Got away from that.

Second time EP limper and raise to 4k from MP tight ABC player (in pokerstars jacket  ) I make it 14k, he pushes I'm pot committed and call. He has KK and i don't improve. That was a bad move as I'd say I was only getting called by QQ+

Bah. I had played well until then, much better than usual anyways! Lack of cards but made a few resteals to get to c23k when that happened. Was a great tournament structure wise, everything ran well, and the standard decent enough.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 658 ✭✭✭Hawk Eye

Great tourney, got up to 55k just before the break and lost a race with AKv99. No worries still on 30k. About 8 hands after the break pick up KK raise it 3.5x Dave Masters calls directly to my left. Flop comes KTx two spades. I lead he calls. Turn is the As I check raise all-in only to find pppspecial with a higher set. Now on 12k with the blinds on 800-1500 200. Double up with 99vAQ.

After a bit of spewing I got 25k, binds are 1k2k. Look down at 92 in the SB. There was a bit of commotion on the other table so a few players get up to have a look. I think this a perfect opportunity for someone in late position to try and steal unnoticed and a pretty active CO duly obliges. I shove and he’s got QQ.

I did knock BigCityBanker out when I rivered a 5 outer to crack his aces.
Bohsman, phantom_lord, masters all had decent stacks at my table but that was over an ago. I expect bohsman to go far, think he was 2nd in chips and seemed to be playing solid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭span

There were 293 runners in total.

I've never been so card dead as I was today. I made a stupid play with TPTK early on and lost about 3K. The table was very loose so couldn't make moves to steal without something half decent. I kept my head barely above water till the 800/1500 with 150 ante level. I'd about 9K left, folded around to the button who makes it 6K to go. I push on the small blind with ATos, he calls with Qh7s. The flop misses us both but has two hearts. Running hearts knock me out in 78th.

It was a great tournie and very well organised. Well done Steven you should be very happy with yourself.

I wasn't happy about one ruling made at our table. Blinds were 500-1000. I raise all in for 7K utg with pocket jacks, straight away the dealer announces raise all in. It's folded around to the small blind, she says call and tosses in a 500 chip. The dealer tells her the bet is 7K she says she didn't realise and tries to fold taking back her 500. The dealer says the call of my bet stands and she argues and asks for a ruling. Stephen comes over and says that because she didn't hear the dealer announce the raise that the call doesn't stand. I wasn't happy with this and it's the first time I've seen a verbal decleration in position not have to stand.

Good tourney, really enjoyed it. Table was of pretty good standard, with one donk who I managed to win a few chips off. felt i was playing well up to the break, and despite running AK with an A on the flop into trip 5s, I had about 15k. After the break reraised with pocket KK, guy called with 88, I pushed on an 8 high flop and was crippled :( Played aggresively after that in the hope of getting back into things but ran KQ into trip queens.

Fair play Stephen, was an enjoyable event, hope all the hassle was worth it :) And it was good to put a few faces to boards names.

Btw, anyone know how the team competition is looking? Hoping TCD are going well despite my poor showing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,900 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Field didn't go down as qick as i thought.
Started well. Up to 14k, drop a bit on a suck out.
Lose two races were I was a slight favourite. 99 vrs AQ and A10 against KJ.
Both times I was sure I was ahead. Down to 6k.
Work it back up to 14k. Start playing well and finally get some respect on raises, probably because I have been sitting there folding.
Took down a nice pot with a big bluff. After the break im on 25k. Take down two small pots. Then no cards at all. Call or raise once or twice with q 10, K J. And get re-raised and and all-in both times. blinds and antes get me down to 19k.Pick up TT. Blinds 800/1500. Player to my left goes all-in for 12k. He has been waiting for a move. I am pretty sure Iam up against a medium pair of AK or AQ. I call. He shows AJ, flop is blank
turn is blank, river is a jack.
Down to 7k. push with A9, called by AA and QQ. Queens make a set on the flop.

Apart from the second and third levels were made a mistake or two, I am happy with my play.
The cards I got weren't great.
Was only all-in on my last hand.
All-in as the larger stack maybe 4 times. Each time I was ahead, each time they hit. Thats short term for ya, maybe next year

got knocked out by the same donko that hit the K on the river against Gholimoli. got it in with Queens against his A8o, spiked the A on the turn. the short time i was at the table the lad managed to hit runner runner twice then two 3 outers! unbelievable.

Yeah, been knocked out in 40th now. In the end the hands I held were 33 then 1010 that got me out.
I was disappointed thet with the three times I had AA today I won about 300 chips...
Disappointed with 40th but jacks beat tens, I think it was a boardsie that did it, wearing red. Queens ran into aces preflop loads of times at our table. Twice I was the queens. Good fun today.
Really cold in there but well done to organisers, good time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Started out well, picked up a few pots early on and was up to around t12K quick enough.

Then have a boardsie try bluffing at me when I had QQ on a low flop, bet weak on the turn so I called him down and took a nice big pot. Up to around t16K then.

Played a hand quite badly, called a raise in CO with AQs, flop comes QJT, I turn the straight, call him down and the river brings a 4th heart, he checks it and I check it down and he'd the KhKx. Cut me down to about t6K.

Have the most disgusting run of cards for the next two hours or so, blinded down to around 4K, open push from EP with Ac6d, get two callers.
They'd AKo and J2(I think). Flop comes K67 with two diamonds, turn is xd, river xd and my 6d takes it and tripples me up.

Remained card dead for a while, was at the dinner break with ~t13K. Came back from the break to blinds of 500/1K with an ante. First hand I get is TT UTG. Raise to 4K, folded to guy in LP who'd less than 4K who calls all in then folds to BB who checks my stack and then flat calls. Flop comes 998, BB checks, I bet out and he folds. Other guy has 66 and TT holds up.

Up to t20K. Next hand I get AdKd in the BB. UTG makes it 4K, UTG+1 flat calls, folded to me. Figured I was either flipping a coin or had them dominated so push. UTG folds and shows ATo, UTG+1 thinks for a while and eventually calls with QQ. QTx flop and I don't hit a jack. gg wp. Out in 113th, with my fellow team member ITT-Pat out immediately after in 112th.

Sorry about the lack of proper details but I'm absolutely wrecked.

Was great to put a face to the names, nice to meet all those that I did.

Good luck to those that remain in it.

Thanks for organising this Stephen, was a great event.

meh, I dumped my decent stack to bohsman in the most idiotic online donk player fashion, with 90ish left, ugh.

Managed to get back up with a10s when I pushed and dave masters isolated everyone and I picked up a ton of dead money, nothing really happened after that, steal here and there, got moved table, 7bbs pushed utg with k7 soooooted and everyone folded. Shoved j10o when folded to me on the button, sb who was fairly short himself called with a6 and hit two pair. dubious call I thought.....finished 50ish.

Shadowless from dcu has a nice stack and seems to be doing alright.

Never really hit too many cards all day, played ok, could have been a bit more agro, I opened raised pretty much whenever I got a chance, 2 aggressive players on ,my table so didn't get to do it as much as I would have liked, rest of the table was a walkover. Had a funny hand where I floated a guy on the button with j8o, flop xx8 turn j. That's not what's meant to happen...

Should have milked lloyd for 2.5k more early on with my nut flush vs his straight. get pissed with myself for half slowrolling lloyd when I misread the hand he tabled. (fwiw I was always calling 2.5k on that turn with the nut flush draw, after u checked the turn I was pretty sure my queen was good and checked the river so you'd have a dink at it)

I donked off most of my stack against the table lag with q9s, meh could have been a good play if he hadn't had kings  left with 7k from 18k at 200/400 left for a good while to clear my head. built back up to 30ish at the break at the .5k/1k level.

Could have taken a coin flip just before the table broke to end up with a 50k+ stack when avg was 20k but didn't. Got moved over between hawk eye and masters, which was a change from from fairly soft table of players who didn't seem to mind getting blinded away...

Really need to work on my tourny game. it sucks.

294 runners was the final count I think.

Out in 38th not much to report didnt play too many big pots. Made a really bad fold early on with the nut straight against what I was convinced was a full house. Tilted for about 30 mins after this but managed to regain some composure.

Most enjoyable tournament I think i've ever played and I didn't even finish in the money (top 30 paid). Had great craic all day, was at table 4 from start untill it was broken up and there was carnage at the table right from the off. Fair play to stephen he put on an absolutely terrific tournament and had the time to speak to any player who had the slightest problem, sorted out a dealer change when we were really stuggling with a slowish dealer, and we had the pleasure of being dealt by both his mother and father :D . Fair play to all those who helped out dealing and whatever (doco, BCB, NFR, Joe etc).

A few from boards still around when i left included: Lissavalley (i think) who looked in good shape and Bohsman who was nursing a smallish stack. 1 or 2 others there im sure. Hopefully one of them takes it down. 19 left at 12:20. Playing till 2am or 10 players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,751 ✭✭✭BigCityBanker

10 players return tomorrow including Oscar.........

2 women at the final table... one of them is pretty hot but is going out with some guy from the goonies.

Fair dues to the girls though, from what I saw they played well.

Typical adolesants. Throw a few females in the mix and they can't keep the cool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,404 ✭✭✭Goodluck2me

i was one of the first people out i think around the 280-290 mark. i get QQ in the Cut off, guy raises to 700 (blinds 100-200) and i repop it to 2800. he flat calls. he has 4,600 behind. he checks the dark, i push for 5600. he calls with 9To. spikes a 9 on the turn.
leaves me with exactly 1000. i get AKo int he next hand AIPF v KJ and QJ. Jack high flop and im out....

most annoyign part was bubbling the ROE tourney in the fitz because i didnt know how many were to be paid...

Great tourney so far, too shattered to write much of a report, 10 left for the FT, Im 4th in chips with 260k, ave is 290k and blinds start at 10k 20k with a 2k ante tomorrow. Fairly crapshooty late on but I managed to pick my spots and find a few hands, cl has 975k so can see players dropping fairly quick. Cheers for the chips PL. Day started well when Lloyd got knocked out by a boardsie at 5/1, was happy to have players I knew at my table for most of the day - BCB, Masters, PL etc. Seems to be between my team - ITT and NUIG for the team event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

I am tempted to write a big report just for Joe but alas nothing much to write.

I finished about 270th roughly I guess. I tried a few moves early on but people couldn't seem to check raise or re-raise me enough so I tightened up/ play normally. I got no cards and played some short stack ninja poker for a while, got 4 all ins through, fifth time I wasn't so lucky as our tables resident card rack picked up aces for about 4th time against my KQ and that was me.

As for the tournie. There are 10 left for tomorrow, Oscar has about 260,000, Caroline (PE galway dealer) has 133,000 and sharon who is another PE galway dealer had about 280,000 I think. Chip leader overall has 950,000 roughly.

Hard luck to shadowless btw, put in a great performance.

Mostly, well done to Stephen for managing to put on such a good tournie. Now lets never speak of it again!

Lastly, for anyone who cares here are some random pics I took throughout the day http://gallery.redbrick.dcu.ie/cooker3/NSPC/

First off, big hand to Stephen, great tourney altogther.

Went out in 34th, folded to me with KJo two from the button I have about 75k, 15k already in the pot from blinds and antes alone, I push and of course monster stack in the sb just happens to have aces, and I'm dead in the water, K hits on the river for consolation...Had aces awhile before utg, bah, I raise folded around very next hand there's two all-ins, just my damn luck.

Overall happy with how I played, early on was great the structure really allowed for plenty of manoeuvres. Between the first 20 minute break and the hour break was cold deck city all the way, the one time I get a hand, KK on the button, the predictable happens folded around and I take the blinds.

I stayed above water by restealing Sikes' (I think) raises when I was on the bb and squeeze-playing the girl from the NUIG team.

Bitter going out so close to the bubble but sure thems the breaks. But what's better playing good poker and getting a bit of experience or getting paid? Maybe both lol.

I had one of them, dave masters(People seem to know his name, who?), on my left, funny guy. Him getting knocked out was funny.
He bet 28k instead of 9k by accident(threw in the wrong chips) with AK. Girl doesn't notice, says raise, so has to go all in. She gets trip jacks.
Next hand he gets AA, a guy goes all in with something crap and gets a straight.
Third and final hand a short stack goes in and he tries to offer hi9m protection by going all in with K4. Girl calls, some nice jokes about women from him, and he is gone.

Thought I do a full report for anyone who's interested. :p
Out in 11th. I was very happy with my performance overall. Never once had all my chips at risk til the very last hand. (Apart from the AA3 hand, which doesn't count :D )

During the early stages I had a maniac to my right so I had to rock it up while the rest of the table was going mad trying to deal with him. On a flop of 532 he check-raised me from the BB. I called with 7's pretty sure i'm still ahead. He fires 2k on a blank and I went into the tank and called. River comes a 9 (completing a flush) and its checked down. He says sorry and flips over nine-deuce off-suit.

Down to 5k then and it's time to make some moves. I complete the small blind with J9s and check raise all-in a J-high flop. Soon after I pick up AcJc. UTG limps, ActionMan raises to 700 and i make it 2300. UTG nearly snaps his wrist he calls so fast and ActionMan takes a minute and folds. Flop comes AA3, UTG pumps and i call. He turns over the most awfully played cowboys I've ever seen and I'm back in business. (Action man said he folded AJ so I got pretty lucky!)

After the break I get a sick run of cards and get up to 45k at one point. Then I run Queens into Aces (which I should of folded) and AK into Queens so i'm back down in the main pack. I get to the dinner break with around 28k.

Back from the Break and my confidence is growing now, my steals are getting through, I've come over the top a couple of times and I make a nice call with middle pair to a hefty river bet. A few hands later I get 99's in the BB and there's a raise to 1k from MP, I make it 4k and he calls. The flop comes KQ2 all spades. Check, Check. Turn is a Q. I check and he bets 8k leaving less than 8 behind. I go into the tank and start talkin about all the hands he wouldn't play that way. Eventuallly I convince myself i'm good and I come over the top. He mucks disgustedly sayin "Did you have queens again?" obv thinkin I was doin a Hollywood. I show my 9's and his mood doesn't improve. He folded J's apparently. He quickly goes on tilt and is gone soon-after.

Moved table then for the first time, and start pickin away at the blinds and ante's. Gettin a good bit of respect and I 3-bet light a few times. (something I was very happy about as i've only just gotten the feel 4 it) I can forsee though that me and the Chip-leader are gonna go to war. I've come over the top a couple of times and he doesn't like it one bit. Knock a few players out when I was behind though I think they all were the correct moves at the time. During the last break of the day Cooker gives me some good advice (not to see reachin the final table as my goal, but try and get there in a position to win it) Inspired by his words of wisdom I come out firing and suddenly out of nowhere I'm up to 500k (not that i knew it at the time, thought it was more like 275) Then just when it all seems to be goin so well there's fireworks between me and the C-L. I'll make a seperate thread for the actual hand-specifics but I put him to the test for almost all his chips and he made a very gutsy call. The dealer didnt help me and I was out (and a bit shell-shocked after 12 hours of poker)

All-in-all a fantastic event, and i'm already lookin forward to next years.
