Not really, if anything studies have shown the cycling can build up the vastus lateralis…..thats the outside or sweep of the quad muscle. Obviously an excessive amount of cardio can interfere, your body wants to be suit to the activity that you do the most.

Excessive cardio will stop your gains, infact i'd wouldn't have anyone do any time of low heart rate cardio while trying to build muscle, keep it to sprint training and you'll be ok

I'd respectfully disagree, low heart-rate cardio can be done without adding significantly to your training load - in fact if the cycling is done at a gentle pace it could help reduce recovery times as it increases blood-flow to the muscles without enough loading to cause any real muscle damage. Also, any calories from bodyfat burned mean even more extra calories you get to eat.

Also, low heart-rate cardio has been a staple of many natural & pro bodybuilder's routines for a long time now & they still managed to gain. If the OP is particularly successful at gaining weight the cardio will further stand to him in terms of his general health.

I agree that sprint training, or even just doing weights with small rest periods will help burn fat - but it all depends on the programme being done and whether or not that can be accomodated.

The fact is that if you are burning up too much carbs during the cardio exercise (which is what they are designed to do really) you are not leaving yourself enough room for significant gains when it comes to gaining muscle. So yes cardio workouts can reduce the yeild of mucles buiding exercises. If you want to fit cardio into your workout routine you have to load up significantly more carbs.
