Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had been freaking out about one exam in particular but everything turned out fine. Thanks.

Dude! Take this down! If the college sees then they'll close the loophole. Tell people via PM.

    Umaro you genius

Well done to all who got theirs. Hope you got what you wanted.

Edit: Good point Minister, this may be best kept on the quiet :s

Ha ha!! Yeah go with that gut feeling.

Am I the only one who doesn't want their results? I never even think about them after the exams til everyone starts talking about it when you go back to college

Hurrah! good results again, hope these are the real deal and not some really early provisional list. Thanks Umaro!

Yes, they've decided to use primary school markings:

    E - Excellent
    F - Fantastic
    G - Good
    NG - Nearly Good

    Well done!

I seriously doubt that these are the actual results. If they are then mine are off the chart. There is a couple of exams that I was borderline fail and they are coming up as As. I personally think they must be just dummy results to test the system.

    Here's hoping I'm wrong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 473 ✭✭Ballerina

does anyone else think they arent the real results?i didnt get mine( ) but heard some results from my classmates and they are kind of surprising....

is it really down or has anyone still been able to access them???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,417 ✭✭✭griffdaddy

damn it i think i just missed getting them earlier. it would've been handy for checking if they're right or not as well cause i already know 2 of them and could've compared

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,536 ✭✭✭Brimmy

Out of curiosity what was the loop hole?..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,885 ✭✭✭Stabshauptmann

The results are put into a data base and then there is a link on the SIS website that generates the relevent commands to retreive the relevent data from the database.

The link was removed, but the data wasnt protected or anything, so if you knew how to retrieve the data manualy, by putting the desired CRN into a stadardised form, you could see provisional results

I think they are fairly on the money, the main part of one of my courses was a single long essay that I got a b in, complimented with the marks for participation in tutorials and whatever the b+ I got on the results screen seems fairly right.

At first, I was suspicios that my grades seemed higher than they should be. Then I checked the site* and learned about the college grading system, eg apparently anything from 76.67% up is an A+.:D I was surprised but if UCD wants to give me an A+ for something that would've gotten me a B+ a year ago, who am I to judge?
Also, the mid-semester results seemed right.

    *Assessment and grading, page 7.

all the CA marks that were put down were correct, so i presume it will be a fairly accurate portrayol of actual results

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Donald-Duck

Did a good bit better than I expected since I didn't put any work in for the exams or even go to most lectures.Ended up getting:
    2 A+s
    2 Bs
    C-

It stopped working about 210 since I had checked my results then my friend was checking his and got access denied

Moral of the story is do this type of thing by PM in future. As long as you weren't accessing other people's records (which would be nigh on impossible unless you actually stole/figured out their PIN) you weren't doing anything i'd percieve as actually wrong.

Incidentally a government department got into a similar problem with one of the big reports (i think it was on the Gardai but not certain). They put the PDF up on the website and were just going to add the link at the release time. Then someone figured out the system for naming the reports and got it.

stole or figured out their PIN? isnt that not your date of birth

    not really that difficult

They did in mine, he kept syaing "in about a month youll have to change your password, but don't change it now because the system is still being changed"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

That was ucd connect pasword, not SIS pin.

    Confusing, eh?

    1) That's some of the most stupid stuff to admit online on a board that is KNOWN to be monitored by (and used for fuel when reprimanding students) by the powers that be.

    2) Anyone who hasn't changed their password by now (most people do automatically when they get a new account, I don't know why this should be different) had better do it now, who knows when Umaro will get bored.

There are times when I'm glad I have no reason to use Blackboard. You've just added another to the list. Such a sneaky, underhand thing to do.

My school officially sucks - having told us last friday we'd get our results this week we get told today that they won't be out this week, even better they're not even saying we'll get them on Monday even though the rest of UCD are. I trusted them - serves me right!

The geography department put up the results for Second years, yesterday (Friday). Nice for them but I'm in third year.v.annoying

Was that for all three 2nd year modules? They had our core course module results up all week but i think the reason for that is the module was 100% coursework and we just got our grades for each assignment and not a definitive overall grade for the module. Likewise with another of my modules in another subject, it was based 100% on coursework and we got our result this week. I don't think any schools are allowed give out any examination results before the university wide date.

Just like to point out that the genious who found the loop hole was an engineer... apparently anyway :)
