Railing Session tomorrow?

The railing session I did the other day was a semi-success I think. One problem was that I ran bad and the other was that it's difficult enough to call hands and answer questions on 4 tables while playing.

So I was thinking. How many people would be interested if I got Skype and a microphone and verbally talked through my thought processes on 4 2/4 tables as I played. Of course everyone watching would have to download and install Skype too. It'd be cool if other people had microphones too but you can type in the Skype chat if you don't.

The best time for me to do this would be tomorrow (Saturday) at around 5pm.

So, if you are interested post here and if we get enough people I'll do it.

tuff_fish was(is?) a terrible 2/4NL-5/10NL 6max player on Party. He recorded himself playing on camtasia or some software then uploaded the video for people to watch.
He was a complete tilt monster, and played really badly. When he got beat he totally lost it, swearing and shouting at his opponents. Some of his commentary and reasoning about how he played his hands was hilarious.

K I just got skype working. My skype name is pok3rplaya.

http://www.webex.com/ is really cool and u can try it free for 14 days.

it will basically allow people to log on to your desktop to see what you are doing (you can disable user interaction so viewers cannot actually click anything). This means they can see your hole cards etc.

You could use it in conjunction with Skype.

pok3rplaya would want to be extrememly stupid to use his method.
If I wasn't busy doing exams I would probably sign up to this skype conference thing, throw 2k into tribecca and LOL as I rape him dry.

I went over and had a look. Looks too complicated for my liking and it locked up my browser. I think I try diung it with just skype first and see how that goes.

OK I kinda figured I could trust most of the people who post on this forum to have more integrity then this. Perhaps I'm being a bit naive. I'm having second thoughts about doing this now, I'll have to think a bit harder about it. This may be called off.

This is a very dumb idea, if you really want to teach people how to play give them a sessions hand history with notes on how you think.

I'd suggest if you still think it would be fun, and I'm sure loads of people would appreciate it, that perhaps you should send a PM to a list of people that you trust to invite and keep it restricted to that group of people.

Follow my advice and make a video, and add commentary. Abuse your opponents for extra points.

lol, laf I think we should all do this, throw $10 into a pool set up a poll and whoever has the funniest/most entertaining video commentary session gets the pool.

pok3rplaya has kindly attempted to setup a learing session for other willing/wanting to learn.
You have correctly pointed a serious security issue (to his stack).
However, your method of doing so leaves a lot to be desired IMO.

I am interested in railing his session but as pok3rplaya doesn,'t know me from Adam then it would be impossible for him to trust unknowns integrity.

Anyway good luck with it pok3rplaya if you decide to go ahead with it.
Look forward to seeing some of the HHs on this forum.

I'd be very interested in this if anyone was doing it. Would find it much more beneficial to be able to read and study if it was written down.

Hadn't even thought about the security risk to be honest.

I would really like to view this pok3rplaya if you do set it up as I'm re-learning and making adjustments to my cash game at the moment.

I fully understand if you don't do it at all.... or if you only allow a few in, but let me know if you are going to post up HH with Analysis if you go down that route.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,364 ✭✭✭Mr. Flibble

I would love to watch this. I have camista studio set up so I could record the session and post it up, so people could get to see it with no risk to pok3rplaya. It wouldn't be the same as interacting but might be useful all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 583 ✭✭✭insafehands

I would love to see this... I say we PM pok3rplayer our Skype names so he know's who's who, and then we all possibly join an empty table so he can see our screen names on that site?

It means someone would have to use another account to cheat using the above method.

    That's what I think anyway.

Cheers for that HawkEye, much appreciated.

I'm real interested in this from a learning point of view and can guarantee I'm no threat to cheating pok3rplaya out of his money, don't even have cash online atm and won't until the end of March.

Hopefully you can trust a few of us pok3rplaya, but if you can't I suppose its understandable.

What makes you say that? I've railed other players lots of times and I believe it has helped my game a lot. Lots of people pay $200/hr for MSNL coaching. I know thats slightly different but still I fail to see how this classifies as a very dumb idea.

I don't really know much about video formats etc. Would it be possible for me to upload n hour long video? I only have a 512k connection btw. If this would work then I think this would be a reasonable good replacement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

I think its a pretty good idea. I don't know how people didn't notice that hawkeye was obviously joking. Wow. Letting people rail you and having a skype conference seems pretty secure to me. I doubt you have much to worry about pok3rplaya.

I'd guess one hour would be about 100 - 200 MB if its decent enough quality to see the stack sizes etc at 4 tables. You could upload it during the day while you sleep. You would have to get camista studio.

If you really want to improve other people's games go down to route that Laf suggested. Theres a few of v good poker players that have set up their own websites based on this idea and have alot of members. It is pretty cool watching someone play above the limits that you wouldn't usually play.

And I wasn't actually serious about cheating him, I was just highlighting the security issue involved.

BTW don't play on tribeca as you will give way too many posters on here an insight to into your game and don't play your usual limits maybe 100nl/200nl.

Doesn't someone have to host a video if you were to upload onto the net?

Sounds like a laugh and if its a success I might even do it:rolleyes:

As Laf pointed out not the best guy to be learning from but you should watch a few as they are very entertaining.

But if you want to watch a few made by good players. You can get loads of these type of Video's on 2+2 forums up as far as 400nl.

Also thier are a few Stoxvideos around through cousins which have videos of players up as far as 10/20 playing and commentating.

For tournament players you can find quite a few videos done like this over the course of a whole tournament. A long while back i remember seeing a guy called Rizen doing analysis and commentary on his $1 million pokerstars win. The site had given him access to replay the whole tournament so you could see his hole cards and he would talk you through his thinking of each decision he made.

pok3rplaya .. I thought it was a great idea cause what you were suggesting took it a step forward as you could have interaction in real time but i can of course see the problems involved with this.
I don't see why you couldn't record the video giving your thoughts with analysis and then have a thread were people could ask you anything they were unsure of needed help undertanding. Good luck with it.

    This is a great idea.
It takes care of the security issue and also allows skypeless people like me in on the action.

Download camstudio or some other recording software (theres loads of free ones, as well as some with trial periods) and just hit record when theres a hand you want to save. Or you could just record the whole lot to your HD, saves you having to download the lot.

Serious point here Pok3rplaya, I'd suggest you edit your post above and let people PM you for details. It may not be a boardster but this is a public forum and especially with your username in the post as well it'd be better to keep the details, at least slightly private.

GL and fair play to you for doing it, I'd say it'll be a great learning experience for many of posters here.

I was calling it a dumb idea as your opening yourself up to being cheated, and lots of players who play those limits on tribeca regularly post here and are getting a ton of free info on you. Ive let a few mates sit in on my sessions from time to time but only if there mates.

Its very generous of you to do this I wouldnt though I prefer people to learn off their own beats and would hate to give away my game.
