anybody have experience with VDM Sound?

    Anybody have experience with VDM Sound?
    I'm trying to get this old DOS game running with Glidos.
    However i've got issues with VDM Sound.
    Initially, it worked, i was getting sound and everything was hunky dory.
    Next day it didn't, i was getting no sound.
    So i uninstalled it and installed the latest version.
    After a reboot not only do i get no sound, but when the game main menu screen appears, it freezes.

    I'm hoping somebody, somewhere has experience getting VDM Sound working.
    It seems to be abandon ware.
