Hey just looking for a general opinion on home gyms. Im talkin say a weights bench and a set of say 75kg weights and bars and exercise ball and stuff.
Im already a member of a gym but find it kinda hard to get to seein as i live a good hour from it. I feel i would be motivated enough to workout at home aswel as i already do pushups and situps every day.
Also would anybody be able to point me in the direction of a good place to get a bench and weights. Dunnes stores have an offer on lately with 75kg weights set for about 80euro and a bench for about the same. I was also considering something from argos. Have about 200 to spend on both. Thanks a mil guys.

Havent seen the dunnes one. The argos 50kg set for 75 is good. Is the dunnes one plastic/cement weights? they are not recommended, get the cast iron plates.

As rubadubv mentiioned its a question of quality - each 50, or 75kg set will weigh the same, it's just the plastic crap ones fall apart on you.:D And on a side note you do already have a home gym - the human body. It's all you need to get in great shape, unlesss of course you want to do specific bodybuilding / powerlifting routines.

How good is it to do the likes of bench press and maybe shoulder press on an exercise ball instead of a bench?? Im guessing it would be fairly good if you're using core muscles aswel??
If it is beneficial or makes little difference i would consider just getting a weights set and not a bench as all i would use the bench for is bench press.

If you REALLY want to get big the exercise you should be doing on the exercise ball is this http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459657, don't worry that the bloke in the article isn't doing it on one the fact is he just isn't hardcore enough

I wouldnt feel comfortable/safe using heavy weights on a ball.
I have the use of a bench but it is not essential. I can get a good chest workout using pushup bars, they allow you to go very deep, and I can wear a backpack with weights in it to get a harder workout.
